There comes a time where promises have to be backed by action – cashed in for their literal worth and held to the person who gave them. Words mean nothing without the notion that they are true and hold some manner of relative value. The world was forged not by words, but by actions, and it was that truth that gave Adell guidance as to how he would handle things regarding Aethera State and its relations with other companies, worlds, and ventures alike. If they were to know anything about their organization and its head, they would know that they were a faction devoted to acting: words, like power, was nothing more than numbers and letters dissolving into some diluted system of politics and tomfoolery. It was by action that they would make things happen.
These were all things that made them who they were and caused them to receive all-around support from everyone they crossed, giving them an incredible boost of management and overall introductory job satisfaction. For an organization devoted to being a mercenary-nation they had mercenaries all over signing to them, abandoning their dirty and lawless ways for a system that simply worked and benefited everyone. Here they could become heroes, they could become stronger, and they could find themselves among the world developed by the administrative staff.
And one such man, the one largely responsible for making it all happen alongside others, sat in his office staring down at worded documents through the HLV monitor that displayed the statistical values, alongside other things that needed approval. What a grueling task. Adell wasn't on to sit at a desk – nor was he one for paperwork – these were jobs for the other staff, even outside of Jin and Dias. The three that were the biggest cogs in the machinations of Aethera State were the ones who downright hated handling paperwork and the politics of things: yet at the end of the day, Adell was always stuck tending to the business that was better suited for someone who wasn't used to just blowing things up lawlessly.
Swiping across the vector the monitor discarded the paperwork until a later time, revealing other things that needed handling. The life of the Horizon Headquarters Commander-in-Chief was an incredibly drab opportunity to test ones effeciency at paperwork.
Snapping his fingers the lights dimmed themselves and the windows behind him cloaked themselves accordingly, creating a room where not much light existed aside from the HLV monitor's turquoise glow.
“Commander, Loki Beolove is en-route to see you. Reasoning unknown. It appears not to be urgent.”
“Unlock the doors for his entry.”
To what did the Commander-in-Chief owe this unexpected arrival? Loki had just arrived back from his mission back down on the surface of the abandoned planet in the middle of nowhere, being ejected as a result of Esper's arrival and the danger of the mission. However, Adell knew his capability, and he was one of the few that was granted quarters with the Commander-in-Chief at any time of the day. So for what this time would he request his time?

When you realize that you had failed, or needed to get stronger somehow, you tend to reflect on all the things that has happened that and you think of this point. The mission on the planet was somewhat successful; Loki was able to engage and help secure the surface area. He was able to combat someone different and it was a test for him. The failures of it were that he was able to do little to nothing and needed to be rescued by Esper, otherwise he would have died and he froze in battle. He came back here in order to ask for something and he saw a lot of technology being used there. It was time to get himself a mech and standard Aesir Empire Exo-Suit armor. He knew how to operate some technology, but perhaps it was because he never relied on it, but he noticed more and more being used and he did not want to be left behind.
Going through the large structure where Adell resided, he was scanned to make sure it was indeed him, and his eyes opened wide to be let in. He thought long and hard about what happened and what he was going to say to his Lord Adell. And he wanted to check out a few things and get more involved, perhaps it would help him develop more skill and develop as a person. Aethera State was something he became a part of after being picked up off of the streets, and it was natural of him to want to do something to help it and the people who supported him here. He wanted to become relied upon. All these thoughts raced through Loki's mind while walking through the hallways until he went to Adell's room, and going inside. There he saw the very dimly lit room and Adell there. It was there that he stanced, saluting and became more relaxed.
"Sir. Reporting from the battle, and coming here for a personal request if you would be kind enough to hear it. It's something I've thought about since coming back from the surface."
He said, and his tone of voice somewhat serious. He became more relaxed afterwards, knowing how Adell didn't really like formalities and he shut the door behind him so that they may speak privately.

"Sir. Reporting from the battle, and coming here for a personal request if you would be kind enough to hear it. It's something I've thought about since coming back from the surface."
Loki's professional demeanor and discipline was completely contradictory of his temperament months ago when he had found him – devoid of any principles his only reason for living was vengeance of his family and to make all those who took others for granted suffer. It was a valiant cause but misguided and for the wrong reasons. Now he stood before a soldier, someone who dedicated his life to getting stronger and protecting the weak, someone who knew his limits but persistently grew stronger day-in and day-out. There was a reason Adell had selected him to accompany Aethera State in their voyage. Somwhere inside of Loki he saw a piece of himself, completely defying all odds and ready to save the world. The makings of a hero, the pieces of a kid who would one day become a real man.
Adell grinned before Loki's words, reclining back in his comfortable black leather chair. Crossing his hands along his lap he glanced from the HLV monitor below and into Loki's eyes, his own pearlescent eyes lacking any real answer: apathy at its finest. Who was Adell? What exactly was he after? Why was he so damn mysterious?
“Relax.” He muttered carefully, the darkess of the room and its intensity releasing its grip on the two.
“You failed as anyone else of the C-rank class would have. Not only that, but I did not authorize for you to be deployed there, and it was against my wishes that someone of the administrative staff sent you to your potential doom. Esper, however, was sent as a failsafe after the fact, and that is why you are here safe correct? I read the reports from herself and the teams monitoring the battle from orbit.”
Adell was usually a man who had much to say but rarely spoke likewise, though to someone such as Loki who was the closest thing to a disciple Adell possessed, why would he not speak the truth?
“That, however, does not excuse your failure. You need to grow stronger and harvest the power within you. It is for that reason that the Triggers are being developed and why you must continue to train yourself. Esper and the other A-class mercenaries will not always be around to save you. There will be times where you have to put out for yourself, as a member of a bigger, greater team, a team with many enemies...understand?”
Adell glanced towards the right wall, a painting of a white dragon soaring into the skies of a forbidden world being the hallmark of the drab wall.
“I would hate to regret bringing you here...”
There was a pause in-between.
“What is your requst?”

"I understand."
He stated to Adell calmly, and nodding. He took his words to heart, because Adell was the closest thing to family that Loki really had. When he was young, he took him off the streets and he was a real menace; very vengeful and Adell helped him stop the people who murdered his family. Since then, Adell had been training him and disciplining him to become more mature and listen to everything in order to survive and build his legacy as a warrior, possibly even hero. He wanted to make sure no other child suffered the way that he did, and even though his stay had been short, he was going to make it up the ladder quickly. He felt it.
Loki's head went down when he heard him speak of his failures and how he was not supposed to be dispatched there. He went anyways, because he wanted to prove himself, in the end he did not and if Esper was not there to pick him up, he would have died, no question. All the training and him being brought here would have been lost. Sometimes, he felt that Adell was like a solitude that asked for nothing in return for all the services he provided. It was then that he heard him ask for his request and Loki looked at him straight in the eye, nodding.
"It's come to my understanding that because of the recent happenings, some of us are ill equipped for technological battle. I would request mechs to be processed so we may be able to neutralize any sort of threats as well as if need be colonize other planets, or free them from the clutches of tyranny. It is our duty, Adell!"
He spoke with such passion in his voice; everything he said was the truth and he felt that something would attack them at any point. He needed to be prepared and he would be. He wanted Adell's stance on this, so that way we could see this through together. His chi was growing stronger and stronger, little by little every day since he decided to follow him. Adell would lead him to victory, he thought.

Their duty...was it their duty to liberate and save others? Were they becoming less of an organization devoted to simple mercenary contracting and bounty-hunting and more of an icon of hope for those all across the omniverse, a symbol of justice and of freedom? It seemed that more and more joined with the intentions of eliminating darkness and going on some crusade...and while that was not neccissarily a bad objective, what exactly was the end game? Adell knew exactly what he himself, and Dias were after, and while he knew less about Jin's true objectives he knew that Jin was along for the ride. The Ixian Artifacts had to be attained and MERKABAH had to be destroyed, and by doing so they would reveal Adayah and sever the strings that had caused so much suffering and pain throughout the entire continuity of existence.
But by doing so did this mean they could simply save everyone? What did it mean to be Hero of Justice? These were all things that Loki had to consider as he moved on and continued to shape himself in the form of a hero. Would he be willing to sacrifice himself to save everyone, and would saving everyone mean becoming a Hero of Justice. Would justice and being a hero go hand in hand to the point of saving everything?
Adell knew the answer, but Loki would have to find it himself.
“I agree. I have actually commissioned the lead scientist Pankraz and his assistants to come up to the station and lay out the schematics for some customized mecha based on personnel. Standard faculty will receive a base model Ingrid variation while others, such as yourself, will be entitled to specialized configurations based on your combat style.”
There was a pause.
“You have changed a lot. You were an arrogant teenager who wanted to fight and beat up everything. You were hellbent on vengeance and now you are a young man who wants to save the world. Are you ready for the harsh road ahead?”

Ever since he was taken in and shown the harsh reality of the world by Adell, Loki had begun to change a little bit every day. He needed to, in order to set himself right and seek a path of redemption. He wanted no one else to go through what he did; enduring a harsh war, and a terrorist group killing innocent lives. He remembered that day, and remembering all but one person survived; that person was paralyzed and he came out unscathed because of his abilities. He couldn't protect them, and his heart was filled with so much hate. It was not a good way of life to live. The hate in his life disappeared the day that Adell had nearly killed him. He was challenged then to surpass his limits and control himself. He soon found himself here, where he spoke with many who helped mend his heart and he soon began to see not only were they mercenaries, but some of them even cared for the well being of others and delivered justice.
Loki wanted that, and he probably had spoken out of turn about saying it was their duty to help. But, perhaps he was speaking more with his heart then his head, which was fine. He was only 19 years old--plenty of room for growth. His maturity was growing, despite his silliness, and the fear on the battlefield was disappearing. Fighting with hate didn't make him afraid, but since coming out of it, he was fighting at a pace where he saw beings far stronger than him on a regular basis. He was going to improve, and he needed to improve significantly while training under Adell and add his own flair to his style. He was confident he could grow here.
"That day....you helped change me. I want to live in a free world where people do not have to nearly die to realize they still have a whole life to live for." He stated, obviously referring to the day that he was utterly defeated in battle by Adell.
"Thank you for granting my request, Adell. Saving the world will give hope and freedom. I want to be a hero Like you. You saved me. It's time for me to save something, too. I'm ready."

Adell? A hero?
Well it was natural to believe Adell was out for everyone's best interests and that everything he had done was for the better of the people and the goodness of his heart...but that just wasn't the case. Since the very beginning it had never been about saving the world from darkness for others, he was no Hero of Justice, such a concept only appealed to the naivety of youth and their desire to embrace the virtue of their hearts. That, in-fact, was not the case for Adell, however. Having experienced the world and most of just what it had to offer, regardless of everything he had been through, he couldn't say that the world was particularly fond of such a role.
That is to say that, being a Hero of Justice and being someone who saved everyone, was simply impossible.
People had to die. Not everyone could be saved from their insufferable fate. To become a true hero meant recognizing that, and that just never bode well in Adell's heart, to become such a contradiction just didn't pass in the words left behind by his own mentor. Though even still...it was safe to say that regardless of that, Adell was living a life of contradiction anyways. Perhaps it was one of the double-standards in which Adell wished for Loki to become far greater than he truly was inside, and went so far as to 'guise his true intentions and set himself up as a role-model for Loki and the others to follow.
Though in all honesty? The truth of what he was after? Behind gathering the Ixian Artifacts, hunting Ace Leiusan, the Merchant of Infinity down to his grave, and defeating MERKABAH? It was a truth far simpler than any could have ever imagined. Adell smiled at Loki's humble request and in his last words his smile only grew. Loki truly was pure at heart, even with all of the hatred, the cleansing Adell's fist had provided was far more than he expected.
“A true hero will strive everyday to grow stronger and protect those closest to them...because a hero has to be as strong as possible to be able to save everyone, understand?”
It was admirable to offer hope to someone who could really change things in the future, was it not?
