Arthur is a rather nefarious looking fellow that straddles the border between classy and sleazy, combining the two traits into a cohesive whole. Though he can be considered quite handsome by conventional standards, there's just something about him that gives off that sort of sketchy vibe you might feel when you are being propositioned by a slimy used car salesman. His cheekbones rest high on his face, perhaps contributing to his apparent sleaziness by making him seem more gaunt than normal. His jawline is prominent and masculine, producing a confident natural demeanour laced with malcontent. While most of his face could be considered as ‘hawkish’ or ‘vulturish’ as he would like to call it, his nose is a generic one that might be found on a greek sculpture of antiquity. The most prominent, and what seems to be the greatest contributing factor towards distrust of him at first glance, would be his piercing blue eyes. Those that look into them may end up under the impression that Arthur is either staring right through them or perhaps into them in some way. All in all, the combination of high cheekbones, a strong jawline, and narrow, piercing eyes makes for a rather untrustworthy looking man.
Despite his dishonest appearance, Arthur makes it a point to keep his body in top physical shape. He’s no crazy genetic mutant, but he can be considered to be a well built specimen of a human being. The study and practice of martial arts from a young age has left his body well muscled and efficient to the highest degree possible, creating a proper ratio of muscle types that allow for maximum speed, strength, and endurance. One would be hard pressed to consider his body bulky by any means, but people that look at him can at least tell he exercises quite a bit. The act of purifying his body through cultivation has left him without any scars, blemishes, or signs of aging past his prime on his body, granting him an extra youthful vigor.
Given Arthur’s self awareness, he has always had a proclivity towards outfits that make him stand out in a crowd. He can often be seen wearing formal clothes of many sorts, perhaps even drawing from the formal wear of the local cultures he’s interacting with. This includes things like suits, blazers, vests, dress clothes, kimonos, etc. His preference for clothing like this isn’t a required compulsion for him of course, as when he is doing things like working on technology, he might be more inclined to wear worksman clothes, or whatever outfits he needs for whatever specific task he might be attempting to accomplish. He has no qualms about wearing a disguise or unattractive equipment if he believes that it is needed as pragmatism supersedes his personal sensibilities for fashion.
Arthur is a man that exudes confidence with every fiber of his being. From his demeanor to his body language, every action that he makes seems to be one of utter certainty. That is not to say that his actions aren’t thought out, but rather that he is very certain in making them. It is a confidence in himself that allows him to morally justify any actions that he might take. This confidence is not blind arrogance of course, as he feels that is ridiculous to see himself as superior to everyone he meets. He is aware that he isn’t strong in the grand scheme of existence, but he is not phased by such things on account of his belief that he can surpass anyone of his choosing as long as he puts in the required effort.
Despite his love for pragmatism and efficiency, Arthur has a fondness for being theatrical and putting on a good show. This fondness for theatrics often leads him to place himself in somewhat compromising positions for the sake of comedy or his own personal desire to be the center of attention. He is quite well aware that beginning flamboyant conversations in the middle of combat might be dangerous and that making a dramatic, non stealthy entrance to a fight may be a tactical blunder, but if the situation is such that he can get away with theatrics, he will take what he can get. His lack of decorum also extends to hierarchies of all sorts. Arthur is not the sort of person to take hierarchies or respecting one’s superiors very seriously, if at all. He might change his tone under penalty of injury or negative consequences, but from a fundamental perspective he does not respect such things.
His greatest desire is to be free from the influence of destiny, reaching a level of power that allows him to live out his existence without fear of there being anyone capable of influencing him without his express approval. So long as there is something or someone with enough strength or influence to affect him, he does not believe that he has become strong enough. Stemming from his lack of control over his life as a young boy, this ridiculous and grandiose goal has led to him believing in the importance of having a strong enough foundation for infinite growth potential. There is no way for him to know how strong the most powerful being in existence is, so if he wants to be prepared for such things, he must be capable of going the whole way.
Besides his strange desire to obtain absolute freedom, Arthur enjoys following the whims of his heart as he travels around in his adventures. He sees pursuing goals with no thought and no enjoyment as something that will lead to ruin, causing him to take the time to meander about and act on a whim as he progresses on his path to power. He does not do so without any thought but rather leaves his travels to chance, so long as there is not some specific thing that he has to do. If it is something enjoyable to him, or something new, he is apt to take the chance to experience it. Arthur sees this sort of wandering lifestyle as a method of tempering his spirit and further building on the determination he has for his path in life.
His beliefs about morality are sketchy at best, but he doesn't see a problem with people acting upon their own desires as they see fit. One could think of him as a self indulgent anarchist who feels that everyone should live their lives by their own standards. Arthur’s beliefs bring with him a somewhat disturbing lack of care from when people commit heinous acts, as long as they are following what their heart desires. That is not to say that he is the type to run around acting like a murder hobo or that he won’t protect people that he believes may be being wronged, but he also wont hold such actions against people he interacts with.
Given his desire to gain power without limit, it should not be very surprising that Arthur enjoys watching or partaking in battles. He is quite happy to take time out of his day to experience the joys of a fight. It is one of his many distractions in life and a necessity to assert one’s detachment from destiny that one fighter imposes on the other by winning. Winning a battle reaffirms his belief that his current path is the correct tone while losing a fight just means that he needs to alter his own path in a way that makes it better, assuming he survived it of course. He has no qualms with killing the people that he fights with, nor does he have any qualms with being killed by them as he believes it is just the result of their destiny or of not training themselves to the utmost.
Regardless of such a ruthless outlook, Arthur loves to make friends wherever he goes, disregarding their affiliations or actions in most cases so long as they aren’t counter to his own personal goals or beliefs. He enjoys experiencing the many different outlooks on life that people have and is fine forcing people he has beaten in a fight to sit down and have a drink with him to talk about themselves, provided they are still not trying to kill him. After listening to people speak about themselves he likes to consider their ideals and views on life, assimilating the views he finds good and discarding the ones he doesn't find logical or desirable.
