Preface:
The Fiorelli-Azerich Codex is a compendium containing all the knowledge Vincent Fiorelli and his associate, Zericho Azerich, have been able to piece together from the countless scrolls and books they managed to encounter.
Originally belonging to an ancient civilization that mysteriously disappeared, these records were hidden in secret chambers throughout the ruins of a long forgotten city, with their condition preserved by arrays of sigils and runes, protective enchantments, and bounded fields. With hard work, the duo was able to translate the majority of the scrolls over a long period of time, ultimately embracing the knowledge the documents imparted and refining the resulting power. Since Zericho retired from the research of the knowledge this ancient civilization possessed, Vincent has chosen to continue wielding the power acquired by the documents, and continues to refine it day after day.
The index of the Codex is as follows:

[M.01] Magic
The Theory of Magic involves all topics that deal with the background of the specific magic school that both Vincent and Zericho adopted as their own. The information contained within includes but is not limited to what their mages were, how they used their magic, the types of methods that they could use to cast spells and harness magical energies, and more. It is divided in both 'Mahou' and 'Majutsu'.
魔法 Mahou
Mahou are systems of skills and techniques, closer to what we call 'science' than the average image of magic and magicians.
First and foremost, we must state that mages were and are philosophers seeking to uncover the secrets of the world; instead of facing the physical world, they turned to the spiritual world, most often dealing with beings and entities of knowledge. However, as there are limits to how much mental strength a single person can possess, it is often the case that mages borrow the power of supernatural beings. Thus, mages were held in awe and fear as prophets of divine will, and as philosophers who have seen the deep places of the worlds.
As human science evolved, however, becoming more advanced, humanity's perception and understanding of the world expanded, and the mysteriousness of magic disappeared. Magic itself is no longer used to reach an 'ultimate truth', but simply for practical purposes – which include but are not limited to charming or killing another individual, predicting the future, treating injuries, or amassing wealth. Modern mages should no longer be considered 'those who exceed', but simply those skilled at supernatural techniques.
It is also within recent times that magic has diversified based on the types of beings called upon, and the kinds of effects sought. For example, magic which calls upon God or Gods, angels, or saints, and causes phenomena which benefit man and mankind (healing and purification) are known as divine magic, or white magic. On the other hand, that which deals with devils, daemons, and evil spirits for purposes which would harm others are known as the wicked arts, or dark magic. Another kind of magic relies not on supernatural beings, but on the heavenly bodies, the rocks and herbs of the earth, the power in words and numbers, and other 'natural' powers: nature or green magic.
魔術 Majutsu
Magic proper is an art cultivated by a solid education and training, and thus beyond regular individuals. Low-level spells, which can be used even without serious practice, are known as sorcery or witchcraft. Sorcery can be considered a sort of charm-work, mainly for solving practical problems: finding lost objects, or stopping pain. Witchcraft is similar, but instead oriented to more malicious purposes, like curses: causing plants to rot, or killing pests. These kinds of low-level magic are generally not recorded in magical grimoires, but passed along by word-of-mouth and local traditions.
[M.02] General Concepts
A small listing of concepts that prove useful in understanding 'Mahou'.
Spell / 呪文 Jumon
Songs that can even draw the moon down from heaven.
The words which enact the supernatural phenomena of magic. Not a keyword that 'activates' supernatural power, but in itself holding the power and "soul" of words. However, spells are not simply 'words of power'; they are full rituals which must be sung in verse, containing the will of the caster. Spells are the circuits which allow the caster to shape 'the power of words' in a form he most desires.
Decisive Pose / 決めポーズ Kime
Magic and spells have always been intrinsically linked to song and dance. Signs, gestures, steps: all of these are just as important as the incantation itself, and most magic activate only based on a combination of them.
Sign / 印 In
Tracing a symbol or mark in the air with your hand ("carving the sign") or fingers ("joining the sign"). For example the Christian Cross.
Gesture / 身振い Miburi Body language. A specific sequence and form of postures. Dancing is among the oldest of body languages.
Step / 反閇 Hanbei
The precise art of pacing and stepping. The originally Chinese art of uho (named after Yu the Great) is one system where magic is activated by a specific pattern of walking, or pacing a particular sign. This passed into Japanese Onmyou and Shinto as hanbei.
[M.03] Wards The Theory of Wards involves the creation and maintaining of geometric rituals and drawings that can - but don't necessarily - borrow the power of Gods and other spirits to increase their strength and effectiveness. Aside from that, specific wards can be created that put the entire space under the caster’s control, allowing him or her to dictate what happens within them, manipulating the laws of reality and the borders that govern the planes. Reality Marbles, for example, are extremely powerful wards or bounded fields.
Magic Square / 魔方陣 Mahoujin
By mathematically creating a shape where the set distance in every direction is equal, it becomes a ward against evil. As walking from one point to another is exactly equal in all four directions, it symbolizes "perfection" – e.g. a God, repelling malevolent spirits.
Magic Circle / 魔法円 (Mahouen)
While a circle similarly represents "perfection" (completion) it also represents a 'closed world' – a line separating the outside world and the inside. Thus, they are often used for bounded fields and barriers, to protect the one within against external threats.
The 'closed world' aspect makes circles effective as binding or restricting spaces. This is why spirits tend to be summoned in a circle – to prevent their breaking out. In this case, the name of the summoned spirit will be carved within the circle itself.
The rules that are applied upon a boundary or bounded field depend on the creator and can range from sealing the space to complete destruction or modification of said space.
Rite / 儀式 Gishiki
The methods and procedures required to successfully accomplish magic. Establishing the path the current sorcery will take with a previously determined procedure, and using incantations, body language, symbols, the celestial bodies, magical artifacts, etc. to amplify and stabilize the magic. The more complex or far-reaching the magic, the stricter the procedural requirements will be, and the complexity of the conditions increases.
With certain rites, animate or inanimate objects prepared purely for destruction – a sacrifice – are needed. Notable are living sacrifices, a great existence being exchanged for effects of higher merit and value. Thus, rituals meant to obtain great results will use human beings as living sacrifices. In particular, the most effective human sacrifices are highly spiritual existences such as shrine maidens or saints, or individuals with close or direct flesh-and-blood ties to the caster.
Reinforcement / 身体強化 Shintai Kyouka
Contrary to the traditional image of magicians in combat, avoiding the wearing of magic-hindering armor and a direct melee, mages can channel mana into their own bodies to massively reinforce their physical capabilities. As such, mages can match trained soldiers in physical ability, and an experienced practitioner can easily exceed what normal humans are capable of.
Vincent and Zericho have practiced this technique for years and have eventually been able to permanently increase their physical capabilities; most mundane attacks and their more powerful variants can be withstood by them with relative ease.
Cantus Bellax is the best example of this magic in effect.
Shield / 障壁 Shouheki
Similar to the physical reinforcement provided by mana, almost all mages maintain a magical barrier around themselves at all times. These barriers can be specifically enhanced for use against certain types of attacks: protection against magic or physical force, for example.
If prepared in advance, the shield of an average mage is powerful enough to completely stop projectile attacks, including bullets. The density of an experienced mage’s barriers can be comparable to full-fledged wards and bounded fields.
The Deflexio spell is an example of this magic.
[M.04] Western Magic
Western and Eastern magic involve two different applications of magic in the school. We shall be touching upon the Western school of magic in this section.
Western magic is based around the cultural sphere of European influence. It conforms to the classic image of magicians, using mana as energy and requiring spells, incantations, and catalysts to activate magic. There are no styles found within Western magic. The only two languages of incantation are Latin and Ancient Greek, the former being common for most spells with the latter being solely reserved for High Ancient or high level magic.
Particular mages can possess affinities to particular types of magic that they can excel in, though the style of the caster differs based on these attributes. For example, a mage excelling at wind could turn simple wind currents into a tornado and control all manners of gasses using air as a medium. Similarly, a mage who excels at water could control the moisture within the air to the point that they could create massive quantities of water out of nowhere.
Element / 元素 Genso
In modern science, the phenomenon of fire is the release of light and heat energy due to combustion. However, in classical elements, fire in itself is a "substance." Magic is tied to a system of four elements, born from the world’s one 'prime essence', and from which forms the basis for all things in existence.
While magically-enabled fire or water are scientifically sound – for example, fire is a phenomenon, water is a liquid – they also ignore factors such as causation or physics, not only due to magic being born in a different age and cultural background, but also due to magic being capable of bending certain laws of physics. The substance called "fire" is simply a source of smoke, light, and heat, which burns everything in its surroundings. Regardless of any local conditions, "fire" will never lose these properties.
"Fire" will never burn out and can exist on water or in a complete vacuum; "water" will remain in liquid form regardless of temperature; "wind" will retain its designated velocity regardless of surrounding conditions; and "earth" will never change its physical composition.
Incantation / 詠唱 Eishou
The lines preceding the casting of a spell, which must be completed in their entirety for the magic to activate. The length of the incantation generally corresponds to the power of the spell itself – a spell with a short incantation has a weaker effect, and so on.
As noted, it is not the words that 'activate' a given magical phenomena, but the words themselves containing the power to enact or create those phenomena. In effect, what’s important is that the incantation is spoken correctly, and actually understanding the words is secondary. Any spell which requires the caster’s name be cited in the incantation means the spell is commanding the power of a contracted, spiritually-powerful being.
Unincanted Spell / 無詠唱呪文 Mueishou Jumon
An incantation 'spoken' internally, in the heart and mind that allows spells to be cast almost instantly. Using this method, it is possible to cast multiple spells at once, incanting one aloud while preparing another internally. However, it would be extremely difficult to use anything other than an incantation memorized to the point of being able to cast subconsciously.
The more capable the mage, the more powerful the spells he can cast without needing an actual incantation. Conversely, if a mage uses a full incantation for a spell which he is capable of casting unincanted, then the spell itself will become abnormally powerful.
Note that spells do exist which conditionally require a full incantation, usually High Ancient Spells.
Activation Key / 始動キー Kidou
Particular to western magic, this is a specific type of incantation unique to each mage that precedes usage of magic – a password. Taking the 'power of words' further, the phrase doesn’t have to make sense or even be in a real language, as long as it feels 'natural' to the mage. It is considered a requirement for a proper mage and the setting of one’s activation key is a lengthy ritual.
Activation keys are spoken before the main incantation, but they can be skipped for simple spells. However, what exactly a "simple" spell is depends on the level and knowledge of the mage; the more capable the mage, the more easily he will be able to cast powerful spells without needing his activation key.
Practe Bigi Nar is the general activation key used by novices before becoming full-fledged mages.
Focus / 魔法発動体 Mahou Hatsudoutai
An activation device possessing certain powers or symbols which assists in the invocation of magic. Most foci are staves, but other possibilities include rings, jewels, or books.
It is possible to cast magic without a focus, as the focus' only purpose is to increase and stabilize the power output. As with activation keys, while novices will make use of simple wands, a customized focus is often considered a requirement for a proper mage. However, it is not rare for high-class mages to dispose of foci entirely.
Even the Thousand Master, a legendary mage of yore mentioned in the Codex used a staff as his focus – though in his case, it could simply be because he could not reliably cast magic without it.
Grimoire / 魔法書 Mahousho
A general term for magical texts containing the names and methods of commanding demons, or secrets and incantations of certain spells. Aside from requiring specifically prepared, ritualized writing equipment, the act of carving and imbuing every word with mana is an act requiring incredible concentration and near-infinite fortitude on the part of the mage. Also, due to the necessary amount of magical energy poured into the text, it is possible for the grimoire itself to possess mysterious abilities.
Some famous examples of grimoires include: the Lemegeton, the Lesser Key of Solomon; the Grand Grimoire; the Zohar, Radiance; the Hermetic Canon; the Book of Honorius; the Necronomicon; and the Book of Melchizedek, which is said to control holy energies. Diarium Ejus, one of many artifacts contained in the Codex, is also described as a legendary grimoire.

[M.06] Pactio
What is a Pactio?
It is a Contract. A Pactio is a full ritual forming a pact between a mage and a follower by drawing out the consciousness from inside oneself, inducing a state of ekstasis ("outside of oneself"), and usually sealed with a direct kiss. While the term Pactio refers to all Contracts, there are different levels of connections; usually, most pacts formed are Provisional Contracts, 'trial' contracts that can be made freely and in any number by any mage, provided he has the capacity to support it. Once a contract is established, mana can flow from mage to attendant as a boost, so even a complete amateur can do something supernatural.
Pactio Card
The proof of contract. A card that can transform into a magic item, an artifact, unique to the attendant.
The original card created by the ritual is kept by the mage, while attendants may be given a copy which has the same functions as the original (allowing an attendant to boost or summon the artifact without the mage). The card itself is responsible for several functions:
Mana Supply / 魔力供給 maryoku kyoukyuu
By using the 'Contract Execution' spell, Sis Mea Pars - 'You are a part of me' - the mage can provide the attendant with mana through the card for a limited amount of time, depending on the skill of the mage.
Conversely, if the mage is for whatever reason unable to execute the contract, the attendant can use the spell, Sim Tua Pars - 'I am a part of you' - to draw mana from the mage. However, as this is different from the mage controlling his own mana supply, there will be restrictions on the usage of the mana provided.
Telepathic Communication / 念話 nenwa
Telepathia, 'to feel from far away'. Note that this is not an ability unique to Pactio Card holders, and telepathy can be easily disabled by magical interference or simply by long distances. Also, the card only allows for one-way communication; if the mage contacts the attendant, the attendant must also hold a copy of the card to respond.
Summon
High-level instantaneous spatial relocation magic that brings the attendants to the mage’s side, even from great distances.
Ability Actualization / 能力発動 nouryoku hatsudou
By using the spell Exerceas Potentiam - 'Exercise potential' - the mage can bring out the power within the card itself, in the form of an artifact. In addition, this draws out the attendant’s own hidden abilities. This does not mean simply physical and mental strength, but the 'potential for power', their origin and growth, responding to the fate and destiny of the holder – for example, an attendant being granted an artifact corresponding to the finality of their own growth.
The same function can be done with the copy cards by using the spell Adeat - 'come forth' - to summon the artifact and Abeat - 'go away' - to turn it back into a card.
Costume Recording
Costumes and set clothing can be registered into the card, and the attendant will instantly switch into them when the artifact is summoned. Some artifacts are set items which already contain pieces of clothing and the costume used when summoning is apparently a personal choice.
[M.07] Artifacts
Unique constructs created when a Pactio is formed and the power of an attendant is made manifest into a physical object with supernatural abilities. Often stored within the attendant's Pactio Card, artifacts can vary wildly in appearance and function, and most of them are intrinsically linked to the characteristics of a Pactio Card as well as the characteristics of the attendant holding said card.
Examples of ancient artifacts are:
Sica Sisicusiro / 匕首 十六串呂 aikuchi shishikushiro
Sixteen Skewering Daggers. The personal artifact of an ancient guardian of the Thousand Master. A wakizashi that can split into sixteen clones, all of which can hover and move independently. Due to the guardian's already impressive swordsmanship, this was usually used as an offhand blade, more or less equivalent to an unincanted barrage of Sagitta Magica. When the dagger is split, only the original retains the hilt ornament. Unlike most Artifacts, shishikushiro is ancient Japanese – a classic poetic convention, meaning 'to skewer the flesh'. The term itself can be interpreted many ways: to skewer flesh or meat, or to skewer a beast, and shi is the number 4, so shishi = 4×4 = 16, hence the name.
This guardian could use them to perform Shinmeiryuu qi-based techniques; however, it is unknown if the mana carried by the daggers caused interference with techniques utilizing qi as their power source.
Ensis Exorcizans / 破魔の剣 hama no tsurugi
Demon-breaking Sword. The personal artifact of another attendant of the Thousand Master. This artifact is a greatsword, initially manifesting as a harisen, with the unique ability to dispel any magic or qi on contact. Due to this, it could also banish summoned creatures and dispel various types of magic in a single blow – effective against impregnable shields, highly dangerous capturing spells, and even other artifacts. Physically, the sword was also powerful enough to 'split the sea' when wielded by the attendant.
In harisen form, the artifact is 150cm long and weighs 1kg. In sword form, it is 190cm long and weighs 4 kg.
Like these two artifacts, there are many others documented in the Codex, though since the attendants' current location is unknown, or if they are even alive in this time and age, none of the documented artifacts can be acquired nor replicated.

Common (S)pells and Explanations
[S.01] Basic Spells
Low-level and beginner spells, generally meant for training purposes.
- Emittam.
- Lagena Signatoria.
- Reflectio.
- Reflexio.
- Sagitta Magica.
- Vente.
- Volatio. Levatio. Scopae Volent.
- Vis Maxima.
Ardescat / 火よ、灯れ (Hi Yo, Tomore)
“Ignite flame.” A simple but important training spell that creates a small flame. A lighter would still be faster, though.
Cura / 治癒 (Chiyu)
Recovery. A very basic healing magic effective on bruises, sprains, scratches, and cuts, and depending on the mage’s ability, scorches and frostbite. However, it cannot treat damage from powerful offensive magic.
Incantation: Tui gratia Jovis gratia sit. / “The grace of Jupiter be with you.”
Deflexio / 風楯 (Fuutate)
Deflexion, Shield. A simple anti-physical protective magic. While its actual defensive capabilities are low compared to other spells, the longer it is maintained, the more mana it is poured into it and the stronger its defense power. Additionally, the second effect of Deflexio is deflecting a single physical blow with the same force towards the one that landed the blow on it. Basically a 'mirror force' but physical. It is long-lasting and can be maintained indefinintely. Becomes a standalone shield when cast. Can be reinforced on its own or by external sources.
Variations: Minor Deflexio: Stops a single physical blow by generating the same amount of kinetic energy as the incoming attack in the opposite direction. Deflexio: Reflects back a physical blow with the same amount of kinetic energy as the incoming attack without a fixed trajectory. Ars Deflexio: Reflects back a physical blow with the same amount of kinetic energy as the incoming attack towards its source, pursuing said source indefinitely until it either hits it, is blocked, or is nullified. Dispulso / 解除 (Kaijo)
Cancel. A spell that disperses the supernatural phenomena emitted by magic. A paradoxical ‘magic that disperses magic’ that allows no exceptions, regardless of the skill of the mage. A required study in mid-level magic at magical academies. Magic Cancel is essentially the constant, irrevocable expansion of this spell. If the mage is skilled enough, aside from dispersing magic, he can also disperse energy as a whole. However, due to the amount of skill it requires, a rank of teacher or higher would be advised before attempting this.
Variations: Minor Dispulso: Dispels a small amount of energy/magic, shattering the control of whatever entity holds it. Dispulso: Dissipates a moderate amount of energy/magic, also shattering the control of any entity upon it. Ars Dispulso: Dissipates any amount of energy/magic. Shatters control and eliminates any trace of the energy.
Emittam / 解放 (Kaihou) Release. The general activation keyword for delayed spells. With more complicated or conditioned delays, a special password may be used instead.
Lagena Signatoria / 封魔の瓶 (Fuuma No Bin)
“Demon sealing bottle.” A spell used in conjunction with a powerful magic bottle, which can imprison and render powerless spiritually powerful existence such as demons or spirits. Through a combination of two geometric rituals: • Pentagram: the power of purification; protection against evil spirits. • Hexagram: the power to turn away daemons; the union of spirit and flesh, fire and water.
The power of the target is restrained, and it is sealed inside the vessel. Lagena Signatoria itself is a simple spell, and can be performed even by complete novices. As spiritually powerful beings can survive even the destruction of the body, it is more practical to attempt to seal them; however, spells do exist which can completely annihilate them.
Incantation: Hexagramma et pentagramma, malos spiritus sigillent. / “Six-pointed star and five-pointed star, seal the malignent spirit.”
Lux / 光よ (Hikari Yo)
“Light.” A simple training spell that causes light to emit. While not by any means a combat spell, the light is bright enough to temporarily blind at close range. Reflectio / 活力全快 (Katsuryoku Zenkai)
Full Vitality. A simple magic of refreshment and recovery from exhaustion. Flowers can be used as catalysts for this spell. Incantation: Fragrantia floris, meis amicis vigorem, vitalitatem, auram salutarem. / “Fragrance of the flowers, give good health, vitality, and a wind of vigour to my comrades.”
Reflexio / 氷楯 (Hyoutate)
Reflexion, Shield. A simple anti-magical protective magic.
The same as Deflexio with the exact same variations; however, this magical shield reflects magic and supernatural energies instead of physical attacks. Vente / 風よ (Kaze Yo)
“Wind.” A simple training spell that creates a sudden gust of wind. While lacking in force, it can for example reduce momentum while falling and soften landings, making it useful in unexpected situations – suddenly being transported four thousand metres into the air, for instance.
Incantation: Vente nos. / “Winds, to us.”
Volatio. Levitatio. Scopae Volent. / 風行。浮遊。箒よ飛べ。 (Hikou. Fuyuu. Houki Yo Tobe) “Fly! Float! Broom, take flight!” The simplest and most basic component of flight magic. Trained mages like do not need to give specific commands (spells) to their flying brooms or staves except in emergencies.
[S.02] Flame Elemental Spells
Flame-based spells are destructive by nature, igniting, incinerating, or vaporizing the target.
- Apes Igniferae.
- Calefaciens Exarmatio.
- Captus Flammeus.
- Flagrantia Rubicans.
- Gladius Divinus Flammae Ardentis.
- Incendium Gehennae.
Apes Igniferae / 紅蓮蜂 (Gurenbachi)
Crimson Bees. An attack spell which looks similar to Sagitta Magica, but instead launching wasp-like projectiles which can cause explosions large enough to engulf the Great Paru-sama.
Incantation: “Obey the contract and serve me. Gather, spirits of flame…”
Calefaciens Exarmatio / 熱波武装解除 (Neppa Busou Kaijo)
Heat Wave Disarmament. A disarming spell that heats and vaporizes the target’s equipment. Naturally, this will not work on metallic and earthenware objects. At the same time, this spell applies heat-resistance magic to avoid direct damage to the target’s flesh. Due to this, it requires complicated manipulation of energy.
The flame variant of Flans Exarmatio and Frigerans Exarmatio.
Captus Flammeus / 紫炎の捕らえ手 (Shien No Toraete)
Violet Fiery Capturing Hand. A capture spell that creates a cylindrical pillar of flame around the target, maintained by a bounded field that can only be broken by magic. As it is not an offensive spell, the flames will not directly burn the target, but the heat inside the field is enough to cause hyperthermia, hindering blood circulation in the brain.
The flame variant of Vinctus Aquarius.
Incantation: Ex somno exsistat exurens Salamandra inimicum involvat igne. / “Awaken and appear, flaming salamander, cover the enemy with fire.”
(An exemplary alliterative incantation: ex- ex- ex-, in- in- ig-.)
Flagrantia Rubicans / 紅き焔 (Akaki Honoo)
Red Blaze. A mid-level destruction spell that burns the target with intense flames and heat. The flame variant of Fulguratio Albicans.
Incantation: Omne flammans flamma purgatus, domine extinctionis et signum regenerationis, in mea manu ens inimicum edat. / “Flame of purification which burns all, lord of destruction and mark of rebirth, reside in my hand and devour my enemy.”
Gladius Divinus Flammae Ardentis / 燃え盛る炎の神剣 (Moesakaru Honoo No Shinken)
Divine Sword of Blazing Conflagration. A spell which summons a giant flaming pillar-shaped sword-like weapon. The flame variant of Gungnir.
Incantation: “Open the nine locks, and come forth from the hoard of Lægjarn.” The incantation is a reference to the weapon Lævateinn from Norse mythology.
Incendium Gehennae / 奈落の業火 (Naraku No Gouka)
Hellfire of Purgatory. It appears to create a large explosion of black flames at the target area. The name refers to Gehinom/Gehenna, the understanding of “Hell” in the Vulgate New Testiment.
Incantation: Agite, tenebrae abyssi, ensis incendens. / "Come, darkness of the abyss, the blazing greatsword.” Et incendium caliginis umbrae inimicitiae destructionis ultionis. / “And darkness and shadow and hatred and destruction, the flame of vengeance.” Incendant et me et eum, sint solum incendentes. / “Burning me and burning them, it is simply that which burns everything to cinders.”

[S.03] Flower Spells
Veris Tempestas Florens / 春の嵐 (Haru No Arashi) Storm of Spring. A wide-area hypnotic spell that induces loss of consciousness. A military-grade spell.
Incantation: Veniant, spiritus terreteres florentes, cum flore somniali sub caelo percurrant una tempestas. / “Come, spirits of earth and bloom, accompanied by the enchanting flowers under the green sky, let a storm crash down.”
[S.04] Gravity Spells A powerful branch of magic with a wide range of applications; essentially, it is the ability to distort (curve) space-time by manipulating gravity. An ancient user of this type of magic used it to manipulate mass, crushing the enemy through brute force, and naturally generating micro-black holes. The natural enemy of barrier-type magic, due to the large difference in energy requirement between “generating a black hole” and “maintaining a personal dimension which contains a black hole, breaking all physical laws inside the space.”
Magna Confractio Dimensionis / 大次元破り (Daijigen Yaburi)
Great Dimension Breaker. A spell capable of finding the weak points in any dimension and shatter them. If the dimension doesn't have any weak points, the spell creates them.
When light (electromagnetic waves) in a vacuum goes from one point to another, it takes the shortest and most direct course. In classical physics, light is a "straight line". However, under the effect of any given amount of gravity, light is "curved". Thus, in space (space-time) affected by gravity, the shortest course between two points is not a straight line, because light is not exempt from this "curvature of space-time" (gravitational lensing). You can say that gravity causes the curving of space-time.
Objects with more energy than mass, especially astronomical bodies, draw in material and electromagnetic waves in their vicinity towards their center of gravity. Normally, this would not cause any special phenomena. However, when the mass of the object is "M", the universal gravitational constant is "G", and the speed of light is "c",
rg=2GM/c2
... Once this relationship (function) is established within the radius "rg" (the Schwarzschild radius), the effect becomes different. As the "distortion" from gravity becomes too large, light is not simply "bent", but "falls" into the object’s center. Illustrated three-dimensionally, this would be like a "hole" – a black hole.
As it is divided by twice the speed of light, the value tends be quite small. For example, an object the size of the Moon will have about a Schwarzschild radius of about 0.11mm. Of course, the power of Gravity Magic is to create gravity where there are no objects with mass. To put it another way, Gravity Magic is the ability to warp space-time without a mass/object medium. Again, if the strength of the gravitational influence from the source is "F", universal gravitational constant is "G", the mass of the source is "M", the mass being influenced by gravity is "m", and the distance between the two is "r",
F=GMm/r2
Under the effect of Gravity Magic, as there is gravity there, "F" cannot equal 0. If the left side does not equal 0, then of course the right side cannot equal 0, so even without actual mass, "M" can never equal 0.
As the value of "M" increases under the effect of Gravity Magic, the Schwarzschild radius also increases. Gravity Magic does not require a large space to operate, but that "M"becomes the required value for a black hole to be created.
In the center of the black hole, as gravity is infinite, the warping of space-time becomes infinitely large, and density also becomes infinite. Due to this unique point, "traditional" physics cannot be applied and, in modern times, we have to rely on Quantum Physics. The artifact of Encompandentia Infinitas has the ability to control a bounded space. This ability, coming from a time before general relativity or modern times, was designed in a different cultural background. Thus, while it can expand a bounded space with an infinitely large space-time within, concepts such as curvature of space-time and density of matter should not be assumed to exist.
Again, Encompandentia Infinitas uses a limited amount of mana to expand and control an infinitely large space. However, even without an infinite expanse, to control the infinitely large warping of space-time and density would require a large amount of mana. Opposing that, creating a black hole requires neither infinite gravity nor mana; an user of Gravity Magic can naturally generate gravitational forces that can overwhelm even light. On the other hand, the great power and basis of Encompandentia Infinitas is "controlling infinity"; as long as there are no abnormalities in the user of the artifact's mental state, the bounded space can be maintained.
Of course, this does not change the fact that there is a large difference in energy requirement between "using gravity magic to create a black hole" and "maintaining a bounded space while there is a black hole inside it". High-level gravity magic is the natural enemy of bounded space magic; you only need a micro-black hole appearing for an instant to break apart a bounded space.
[S.05] Ice Elemental Spells
Cold-based and generally offensive spells.
- Confirmatio Glacialis.
- Crystallizatio Tellustris.
- Frigerans Exarmatio.
- Ensis Exsequens.
- Gelidus Capulus.
- Jaculatio Grandinis.
- Malleus Aquilonis.
- Mundus Gelans.
- Nivis Casus.
- Nivis Tempestas Obscurans
Confirmatio Glacialis / 氷結武器強化 (Hyouketsu Buki Kyouka)
Freezing Weapon Reinforcement. A spell used by an ancient incantor by the name of Beatrix that adds an offensive elemental effect, in this case ice, on the caster’s weapon.
Crystallizatio Tellustris / 凍おる大地 (Kooru Daichi)
Frozen Earth. An attack spell that shoots a single giant icicle from the ground or multiple smaller ones. Aside from possible blunt and piercing damage, the target can be directly frozen to the pillar, restricting movement. While highly effective against a ground target, as the pillar is created from a bounded field placed on the ground, it has a range limit, rendering it fairly useless against airborne opponents.
Incantation: Veniant spiritus glaciales, extendantur aeri tundram et glaciem loci noctis albae. / “Come spirits of ice, filll the atmosphere. Bring the frozen soil and the glacier of the arctic night.”
Ensis Exsequens / 断罪の剣 (Danzai No Tsurugi)
Executioner sword, the Sword of Conviction. A high-level, extremely destructive attack spell, taking the form of a "blade" adhered to the arm, which forcibly initiates a phase change in solid matter, turning it into liquid and gas, and essentially vaporizing any substance within range.
The process of vaporization would generally be assumed to be an increase of temperature; however, in order to absorb the large amount of vaporization heat and the latent heat of fusion, the temperature radically decreases. Therefore, even if the initial forced phase change was magically resisted, the target will be exposed to an extreme cold wave due to the absorption of the enthalpy of fusion by the surrounding air, making this a two-fold lethal attack.
Dissimilar to most cold-based spells, which generally work by freezing and solidifying the target. Thus, cold-based magic is also capable of vaporization in addition to solidification, though performing this would require a mage of great skill, who could use this spell to match even the output of the High-Ancient lightning spell Titanoktonon.
Frigerans Exarmatio / 氷結・武装解除 (Hyouketsu, Busou Kaijo)
Freezing Disarmament. A disarming spell that freezes and shatters the target’s armaments; at the same time, it requires careful manipulation of mana to prevent direct damage to the target. As the spell cannot destroy metallic or other hard materials, the most that can be managed is having them fly off.
The ice variant of Calefaciens Exarmatio and Flans Exarmatio.
Gelidus Capulus / 凍てつく氷柩 (Itetsuku Hyoukyuu)
Freezing Ice Coffin. It seems to be a similar spell to Crystallizatio Tellustris, creating a giant icicle from a bounded field placed on the ground. The pillar then completely encases and traps the target, similar to the effect of Kosmike Krustallopegia.
Jaculatio Grandinis / 氷槍弾雨 (Hyousou Danu)
Hail of Spears. An attack spell which summons and shoots down dense packs of ice spears. Individually, each warhead is more powerful than regular ice projectiles; however, because it takes the physical form of spears, the practical applications of this spell are limited by ballistics.
Malleus Aquilonis / 氷神の戦鎚 (Hyoujin No Sentsui)
Warhammer of the Ice God. An attack spell which crushes the target with a giant mass of ice.
The creation and manipulation of ice being the cornerstone of cold-based magic, this is an extremely simple spell, its only real advantage being the massive force it can bring down on the target.
Mundus Gelans / こおるせかい (Kooru Sekai)
Freezing World. An attack spell which encases the target area with ice. Both the chant and effect suggests that this is the incomplete version of the High-Ancient ice spell Kosmike Katastrophe but the name and incantation are rendered in Latin.
Incantation: In pactione mane et oboedite mihi, regina glaciei. / “Obey the contract, obey me, queen of ice.” Venite, tenebrae sempternae, glacialium aeternum. / “Come, everlasting darkness, the eternal glacier. ” Omnia in magnifice carceri glaciei includite. / “Shut all within an enchanting prison of ice.”
Nivis Casus / 氷爆 (Hyoubaku)
Avalanche, Ice Blast. A highly lethal attack spell which instantaneously creates and launches a large-volume sphere of ice at the target, bursting on contact and causing blunt trauma, frostbite, and at close range, hypothermia – assuming you’re not frozen outright.
Nivis Tempestas Obscurans / 闇の吹雪 (Yami No Fubuki)
Snowstorm of Darkness. An attack spell which combines the forces of ice and darkness into a directed, tornado-like attack.
The ice variant of Jovis Tempestas Fulguriens; however, as the true nature of darkness spells are unknown, the actual force of this spell is also unknown. It is inferred the darkness confers the spell with a corrupting, acidic, and blighting effect, but this has yet to be studied and analyzed properly.
Incantation: Veniant spiritus glaciales obscurantes, cum obscurationi flet tempestas nivalis. / “Come, spirits of ice and darkness. Attended to by the darkness, let an endless night of ice and snow blow forth.”

[S.06] Earth Elemental Spells
Earth elemental spells deal with the physicality of the world around oneself and the replication of rocks possessing different variations of hardness, toughness, and mass.
Cataracta Quae Dividit Terrum / 地を裂く爆流 (Chi Wo Saku Bakuryuu)
Earth-rending Torrent. A spell which seems to make magma burst through the ground at the target area.
Circulus Pilorum Nigrorum / 万象貫く黒杭の円環 (Banshou Tsuranuku Kokkui No Enkan)
Ring of Black Stakes Piercing All Creation. A spell which summons a massive swarm of petrification stakes.
Lapis Niger / 黒き飛礫 (Kuroki Tsubute)
Thrown Black Rock. It seems to be a physical projectile attack on the level of a Sagitta Magica. Certain casters can fire this spell unincanted.
Mille Gladii Obsidianii / 千刃黒耀剣 (Senjin Kokuyouken)
Thousand Obsidian Swords. A spell which summons numerous black swords crafted solely out of magically enhanced obsidian, though the final result is entirely physical. The mage that initially conjured this spell could seemingly control them via psychokinesis.
Terra Findens / 引き裂く大地 (Hikisaku Daichi)
Tearing Earth. An extremely powerful and large-scale spell which summons a torrent of lava. The incantation points to a High-Ancient spell on par with Khilipl Astrape, but the name is rendered in Latin.
Incantation: “Obey the contract, obey me, king of hades. Come cracking the earth, torrent of scorching heat engulfing the furthest reaches. Seethe, surge forth, earth god of brilliant burning ruination.”
[S.07] Lightning Elemental Spells
As the spells are powered by lightning spirits, they have an electrifying effect on impact, which can stun living targets. The caster can choose whether to rely on spirits aspected to lightning or to conjure forth the very forces that make up lightning, allowing the spells to deal with less spiritual elements.
- Confirmatio Fulminans.
- Fulguratio Albicans.
- Gungnir Halebarda Fulgoris.
- Jaculatio Fulgoris.
- Jaculatio Vorticis Tempestatis.
- Jovis Tempestas Fulguriens.
Confirmatio Fulminans / 雷撃武器強化 (Raigeki Buki Kyouka)
Shocking Weapon Reinforcement. A spell used by Yue that seems to add an offensive elemental effect on the caster’s weapon.
Fulguratio Albicans / 白き雷 (Shiroki Ikazuchi)
White Lightning. A mid-level destruction spell that emits an intense electric attack on the target. While ineffective against constructs, it wields tremendous power against living beings. The lightning variant of Flagrantia Rubicans.
Incantation: Unus fulgor concidens noctem, in mea manu ens inimicum edat. / “Bolt of light which cleaves the dark night, reside in my hand and devour the enemy.”
Gungnir Halebarda Fulgoris / 轟き渡る雷の神槍 (Todoroki Wataru Ikadzuchi No Shinsou Majou Ikazuchi Bousou)
Divine Spear of Thunderous Lightning. A spell which summons a giant spear of lightning. It is the lightning spell with the greatest penetrating power. The lightning variant of Gladius Divinus Flammae Ardentis.
The spell of Halebarda Fulgoris can also be used in a standalone manner to transform the weapon the caster is wielding into a halberd of pure lightning.
Jaculatio Fulgoris / 雷の投擲 (Ikazuchi No Touteki)
Thrown Lightning. An attack spell which summons and shoots down electric spears. Individually, each warhead is more powerful than regular lightning projectiles and very destructive. However, because it takes the physical form of spears (a ballistic body) it is easier to avoid, unlike a direct attack such as Fulguratio Albicans. The lightning variant of Jaculatio Grandinis.
Incantation: Locos umbrae regnans, Scathach, in manum meam det jaculum daemonum cum spinis triginta. / “Ruler of the land of shadows, Scathach, grant into my hand your thirty-barbed demonic spear.” The incantation is a reference to the cursed spear Gáe Bolg from Irish mythology.
Jaculatio Vorticis Tempestatis / 巨神ころしII「暴風の螺旋槍」 (Kyojin Koroshi Tsuu 'Boufuu No Rasensou')
Titanoktonon II, Windstorm Spiral Spear. A less powerful variation of the original Titanoktonon spell, merging Jovis Tempestas Fulguriens with Jaculatio Fulgoris.
Incantation: Emittam et stagnet, Jovis Tempestas Fulguriens, Jaculatio Fulgoris, unisonent. / “Release and fixate, Windstorm of Lightning, Thrown Lightning, technique synthesis.”
Like the original spell, Jovis Tempestas Fulguriens can similarly be released: Release Command: Emittam, turbo fulgoris perforantis. / “Release, tempest of gouging lightning.”
Jovis Tempestas Fulguriens / 雷の暴風 (Ikazuchi No Boufuu)
Windstorm of Lightning. An attack spell which combines the forces of wind and lightning into a directed, tornado-like attack. Due to the concentrated nature of the attack, and depending on the caster's own speed of casting, this spell is capable of tearing through wide-area High-Ancient spells despite any difference in casters' power. When used by a high-class mage, this spell has enough force to blow apart a mountain.
The lightning variant of Nivis Tempestas Obscurans.
Incantation: Veniant, spiritus aeriales fulgurientes. / “Come, spirits of lightning and wind.” Cum fulgurationi flet tempestas austrina. / “Entwined with lightning, let a storm of the southern seas blow forth.”

[S.08] Shadow Spells
This particular branch of magic employs shadows given physical form. An ancient practitioner of Shadow Magic used it to create shadow familiars who could take up a number of different roles in combat. This forgotten magister called on low-level demons and spirits to possess the shadow bodies, thus making their approach toward this form of magic closer to Eastern shikigami than normal Western familiars.
Before the advances of modern optics, mirrors and shadows possessed strong magical meaning. The shadow was distinct from the form from which it was cast, and was perceived as another "physical form" of the person. The shadow is a "path" or "gate" to a turbulence expanding without limits. As such, shadows are a pathway to an alien world. Another practitioner whose name is currently unknown used this symbolic trait of shadows to move from one point to another, faraway location through a Gate of Shadows.
- Centum Lanceæ Umbræ.
- Lorica Umbræ.
- Nocturna Nigredinis.
- Umbræ Septemplex Paries Anti-Corporalis.
Centum Lanceae Umbrae / 百の影槍 (Hyaku No Eisou)
Hundred Shadow Spears. An attack spell which gives physical form to shadow ‘spears’ allowing them to penetrate magic shields.
Lorica Umbrae / 影の鎧 (Kage No Yoroi)
Shadow Armor. A spell that creates "armour" of the appearance the caster desires, but increases defensive capabilities vastly. The increase is even higher if applied directly onto the skin.
Nocturna Nigredinis / 黒衣の夜想曲 (Kokui No Yasoukyoku)
Black Cloth Nocturne. The most powerful close-combat technique in shadow magic. This spell employs a physical shadow familiar that surrounds the caster and mimics their own actions, allowing for powerful, two-fold melee attacks. Simultaneously, the familiar acts as an automated, absolute defense system. Once the familiar is summoned, the caster will no longer require any further protection, at least not until the shadow familiar is destroyed or dissipated. However, the familiar will only respond to clearly offensive actions.
Umbrae Septemplex Paries Anti-Corporalis / 影布七重 対物障壁 (Eibu Nanae Taibutsu Shouheki)
Seven-fold Shadow Cloth Anti-Physical Barrier. An anti-physical defensive spell which draws multiple layers of shields around the caster, deflecting purely physical blows by calculating and then enacting the exact amount of incoming force in the opposite direction.
[S.09] Water Elemental Spells
Water elemental spells focus on mass and raw force to attack the opposition. They also deal with suffocation and defense in a similar manner.
- Magna Cataracta.
- Undans Paries Aquarius.
- Vinctus Aquarius.
Magna Cataracta / 水精大瀑布 (Suisei Daibakufu)
Water Spirit’s Great Waterfall A spell which summons an enormous quantity of water coalesced in the form of a massive pillar. Due to the height it can called forth from and its large mass and potential energy, its destructive properties could bring down a skyscraper without effort.
Undans Paries Aquarius / 水流障壁 (Suiryuu Shouheki)
Water Current Barrier. A defensive shield spell which surrounds the caster and is capable of stopping up to 10-tons of incoming force for a novice practitioner. Due to its element, it is also effective against heat and drought.
The water variant of Flans Paries Aerialis, with roughly the same protective power.
Vinctus Aquarius / 流水の縛り手 (Ryuusui No Shibarite)
Flowing Binding Hand. A capture spell that creates a cylindrical pillar of water around the target. While it does not technically classify as an offensive spell, the oxygen concentration within the pillar is entirely dependent on the caster, with any targets caught in the spell potentially afflicted by asphyxiation.
The water variant of Captus Flammeus, but comparatively much more lethal.
Incantation: Ex somno exsistat exudans Undina inimicum immergat in alveum. / “Let the wave-borne undine awaken and appear now, submerging the enemy into the depths.”
(An exemplary alliterative incantation: ex- ex- ex- ex-, in- im- in-.)
[S.10] Wind Elemental Spells
Wind spells excel at the manipulation of currents and gas, and are generally defensive in nature.
- Flans Carcer Venti Vertentis.
- Flans Exarmatio.
- Flans Paries Aerialis.
- Flans Paries Venti Vertentis.
- Flans Saltatio Pulverea.
- Limes Aeriales.
- Nebula Hypnotica.
Flans Carcer Venti Vertentis / 風花旋風 風牢壁 (Fuuka Senpuu Fuurouheki)
Flowering Whirlwind, Prison of Wind. A capture spell that creates a tornado around the target, who will remained unharmed so long as a forced escape through the intense air currents is not attempted.
The offensive variant of Flans Paries Venti Vertentis.
Incantation: Vertatur tempestas aestiva, illis carcarem circumvertentem. / “Surging storm of spring, give them a tornado prison.”
Flans Exarmatio / 風花武装解除 (Fuuka Busou Kaijo)
Flowering Disarmament. A disarming spell that blows away the target’s equipment with a strong wind, and turns cloth or other soft material into flower petals. Obviously, as a non-lethal attack, the wind will never be strong enough to lift someone off their feet. This is one of two combat-oriented spells taught at all magic schools, the other being Sagitta Magica.
The wind variant of Calefaciens Exarmatio and Frigerans Exarmatio.
Flans Paries Aerialis / 風花 風陣壁 (Fuuka Fuujinheki)
Flowering Wind Ward Barrier. A defensive shield spell which surrounds the caster and can stop up to 10-tons of incoming force. However, two weaknesses exist in that the effect only lasts an instant, and the spell cannot be used repeatedly.
Some ancient practitioners of this spell used to have this barrier deployed around them at all times. The wind variant of Undans Paries Aquarius.
Flans Paries Venti Vertentis / 風花旋風 風障壁 (Fuuka Senpuu Fuushouheki)
Flowering Whirlwind, Barrier of Wind. A defensive spell that creates a tornado around the mage, using the intense air currents as a protection against outside threats. This effect can last from two to three minutes.
Incantation: Vertatur tempestas veris. Nobis protectionem aerialem. / “Surging storm of spring, give us the protection of the wind.”
Flans Saltatio Pulverea / 風花 風塵乱舞 (Fuuka Fuujin Ranbu)
Flowering Boisterous Dancing Dust. A spell that creates a strong gust. While it has little offensive power, the strength of the wind is considerable.
Incantation: Flet, una vente. / “Blow forth, gust of wind.”
Limes Aeriales / 風陣結界 (Fuujin Kekkai)
Wind Ward Bounded Field. A defensive spell which erects a magic shield of medium scale. The shield uses wind currents to defend against attacks using air as a medium. Fire, cold waves, gases, pressure, and other phenomena related to wind. However, even compared to other wind-based spells, this is a basic spell that does not have the potential energy to hold against solid bodies consisting of large mass.
Incantation: Elementa aerialia, venti spirantes, cito adeuntes ab inimicis meis me defendant. / “Spirits of the atmosphere, the breathing wind, come quickly and protect us from our enemies.”
Nebula Hypnotica / 眠りの霧 (Nemuri No Kiri)
Mist of Sleep. A spell which creates a magical mist capable of making all creatures and entities caught inside it to fall asleep. The hypnotic effect of the mist is quite strong seeing as even lifeforms highly resilient to magic can instantly be knocked out. As the mist spreads relatively slowly, it can be easily avoided in outdoor areas, but the spell is fearsome in enclosed spaces.
Incantation: Aer to aqua, facti nebula illis somnum brevem. / “Atmosphere and water, become a white mist, give them a moment of repose.”

[S.11] Flight Spells
The power to fly, also referred to as Levitation / 浮遊術 (Fuyuujutsu). While flight magic is generally enabled through a broomstick or staff, it is possible for it to be used in a standalone manner. However, a staff or broom can carry multiple passengers while maintaining a speed comparable to an automobile. Mages highly skilled in the art of flight can modify their speed to frightening levels depending on their natural power and general aptitude towards magic.
As flight is simple to perform for even novices, only in emergency situations will mages directly order their brooms or staves. However, though it is considered a basic technique, magically enabled flight is subtly complex and requires many precautions. For example, magic to prevent from slipping off if using a broom, or perception inhibition magic to prevent ordinary people from noticing the flying mage.
Acceleret / 加速 (Kasoku)
Accelerate. A command to increase flying speed.
Maxima Acceleratio / 最大加速 (Saidai Kasoku)
Greatest Acceleration. A command to fly at the highest speed. Novice casters on a broom can reach a maximum speed of approximately 119km/h using this command.
Mea Virga / 杖よ (Tsue Yo)
"My staff". Rather than the caster telepathically recalling the staff, this spell commands the staff to return by itself.
Mobiliter / 高速機動 (Kousoku Kidou)
High Speed Maneuver. A command for higher performance, allowing the broom to make faster and sharper actions. Like Rapide Subsistat, this is not a spell for normal usage.
Rapide Subsistat / 急速停止 (Kyuusoku Teishi)
Rapid Halt. A command to the broom similar to an emergency brake. Due to the added emphasis of magically-powered words from the mage, the broom can perform and react faster than normal.
[S.12] Reinforcement
強化 (Kyouka)
By channeling their supernatural energies into their own bodies, wielders of this art can strengthen their physical bodies to make them on par with the power of their spirit. In the most basic form practiced by almost all casters daily, this grants the practitioner above-average athletic ability and strength.
Cantus Bellax / 戦いの歌 (Tatakai No Uta)
Song of Battle. A form of physical reinforcement used by a mage in preparation for close combat. Aside from providing a long-lasting anti-physical shield, this magic also exponentially increases muscle tension, allowing greater power, speed and endurance; it also increases the flexibility of muscles and tendons to prevent the mage damaging himself from overexertion. In addition, the mage’s reflexes are enhanced by a moderate increase in the stimulation of the nervous system.
Melodia Bellax / 戦いの旋律 (Tatakai No Senritsu) Melody of Battle. A more advanced form of Cantus Bellax used to achieve extremely high agility by supplying the supernatural energies of the caster to all parts of the body.
Incantation: Melodia bellax de bi-festinando. / “Melody of Battle, Double Speed.”
Vis Maxima / 最大出力 (Saidai Shutsuryoku) Greatest Output. The spell to draw out the maximum performance of reinforcement magic such as Cantus Bellax. Due to the increase in the energy upkeep requirements, the duration of this spell varies depending on the pool of energy at the caster's availability, and on the surrounding energies.
[S.13] Sagitta Magica Series Spells
魔法の射手 (Mahou No Shashu)
Magic Archer. An attack spell which summons lower elemental spirits, transforming them into projectiles of different kinds and forms, and fires them at the target. The properties of the "arrow" changes based on the type of spirit being called upon, making this simple spell very versatile and useful in many situations.
While it is one of the most basic offensive spells, its power, like that of all magic, is dependent on the skill and strength of the caster. A powerful mage will be able to summon and fire more arrows at once, with the power of each individual arrow becoming stronger. In addition, due to the open arrangement of the spell incantation, the spell can be conveniently modified to work in the way most effective to deal with the target at hand. As a result, Sagitta Magica is the only offensive spell taught at all magic schools, according to the documents Vincent and Zericho have rediscovered.
Properties
Remote Guidance
The arrows can pursue an evading target with homing properties. While the general homing ability of individual arrows are low, the attacks become difficult to avoid when the number of projectiles are increased. Among spells which rely on numbers, Sagitta Magica is particularly effective as a diversion.
The homing and remote guidance properties can be replaced with the ability to concentrate all arrows together and release them at a single point. While increasing the chance of the target evading the attack, this replacement of properties also increases penetrating force and sheer destructive power.
Firing Speed
Due to the relatively short time between activation and actual discharge of a single arrow, when fired at close range, it is nearly impossible to defend against.
Force Supplement
As the arrows can be launched "riding" another attack, the Sagitta Magica can increase and augment the power of the first attack itself.
Firing Delay
The arrows can be temporarily held in place as glowing spheres around the caster, even after activation. The number of projectiles that can be held on standby, and the length of time they can be held for entirely depends on the power of the caster.
Variations
Dark
The opposite of Light arrows, firing multiple black projectiles which have a corrossive, draining effect.
Incantation: Spiritus obscuri. Sagitta Magica, Series Obscuri. / “Spirits of darkness. Magic Archer, Barrage of Dark Arrows.”
Flame
The flame variant of Sagitta Magica, which fires streaks of flame which can burn and ignite the target on impact, making this one of the most destructive forms of Sagitta Magica.
Incantation: Sagitta Magica, Series Ignis. / “Magic Archer, Fire Arrows.”
Ice
The ice variant, firing sharp icicles at the target, making this a very lethal spell despite its simplicity. In addition to piercing damage, the projectiles can paralyze the target with cold, limiting the target's movement.
Incantation: Spiritus glaciales, coeuntes inimicum concidant. Sagitta Magica, Series Glacialis. / “Gather, spirits of ice, cut the enemy apart. Magic Archer, Barrage of Ice Arrows.”
Light
The opposite of Dark arrows, firing projectiles of pure, sacred destructive energy.
Incantation: Spiritus lucis, coeuntes inimicum sagitent. Sagitta Magica, Convergentia Lucum. / “Gather, spirits of light, shoot at the enemy. Magic Archer, Convergence of Light Arrows.”
Lightning
The lightning variant of Sagitta Magica, firing electric projectiles. By changing the strength of the arrows, the spell can achieve a stunning effect, immobilizing living targets.
Incantation: Spiritus aeriales, coeuntes. Sagitta Magica, Series Fulguralis. / “Gather, spirits of wind. Magic Archer, Barrage of Lightning Arrows.”
Variant: Sagitta Magica, Convergentia Fulguralis. / “Magic Archer, Convergence of One Thousand and One Lightning Arrows.”
Sand
The sand variant of Sagitta Magica, firing projectiles made of gravel and dirt which explode once in range of the target. The entire area is sprayed with shrapnel, like a shotgun, making this attack impossible to avoid with agility alone. The gravel, infused and strengthened with supernatural energies, can penetrate even steel plating.
Incantation: Sagitta Magica, Series Sabulonis. / “Magic Archer, Barrage of Sand Arrows.”
Wind
The wind variant of Sagitta Magica, a capture spell which uses air to bind the target. Despite its lack of force, the bind itself is extremely strong. As with the other forms of Sagitta Magica, these binding arrows can track the enemy, and the power of the bind depends on the number of arrows.
Incantation: Spiritus aeriales, vinculum facti inimicum captent. Sagitta Magica, Aer Capturae. / “Spirits of wind, become a bind and capture the enemy. Magic Archer, Binding Wind Arrows.”

Ourania Phlogosis [Ουρανια Φλγωσις] / 燃える天空 (Moeru Tenku)
Burning Sky. The most powerful spell within the fire element. An annihilation spell which incinerates the target area with extreme temperature fire. The flame variant of Kosmike Katastrophe. However, this spell is comparatively easier.
Incantation: To sumbolaion diakoneto moi, ho turanne phlogos. Epigenetheto, phlox catharseos, phlogine romphaia. / "Obey the contract, obey me, tyrant of flame. Come, flame of purification, the burning greatsword.” Rheusanton, pur kai theion, ha epephlegon Sodoma. Hamartolous eis choun thanatou. / “Flow out, the fire and sulfur burning Sodom, turn the sinners into the dust of death.”
[H.03] Ice Elemental High Ancient Spells
Kosmike Katastrophe [Κοσμικη Καταστροφη] / おわるせかい (Owaru Sekai)
Ending World. The most powerful spell in the ice element. An annihilation spell which completely encases the target area in ice via a bounded space extending up to 150 feet in all directions, with a temperature of absolute zero. Upon the completion of the incantation, the frozen target area is completely shattered. Due to the extreme low temperatures reached, this magically-induced phenomenon goes against the second law of thermodynamics and reaches the realm of superfluidity and quantum hydrodynamics. The ice variant of Ourania Phlogosis. However, this is comparatively a more difficult spell.
Incantation: To sumbolaion diakoneto moi, he krustalline basileia. Epigenetheto, taionion erebos, aionie krustalle. / “Obey the contract, obey me, queen of ice. Come, everlasting darkness, the eternal glacier.” Pasais zoais ton ison thanaton, hos ataraxia. / “All living things die equally. That is peace.”
The first verse can technically be used in a standalone manner, in which case the spell becomes Kosmike Krustallopegia [Κοσμικη Κρυσταλλοπηγια] / こおるせかい Freezing World. When a particular mage of renowned skill wandered the world as a wanted fugitive, someone whose name has been lost to time, used this spell against the bounty-hunters who came after them, those who were hesitant to fight a "child" or afraid to be killed would be struck with the freezing portion of the spell rather than with the shattering.
Aperantos Leukos Ouranos [Απεραντος Λευκος Ουρανος] / 終わりなく白き九天 (Owarinaku Shiroki Kyuuten)
Endless White Nine Heavens. An original spell created by the selfsame mage responsible for Kosmike Katastrophe. Texts uncovered regarding this spell cast light on the purpose. Apparently, this spell was originally created for use against a group of disciples responding to a higher authority with enough power to threaten an entire realm. A wide-range spell centered around a "white rose", a tornado of freezing lightning, whose vines lock on to and pursue soulless beings.
Once caught, the entire area around the target, including any shields, are continually frozen until the practitioner ceases the spell's effect. The targets are left in a conscious state so that they can experience the horror of being frozen time and time again for all eternity. Vincent Fiorelli's modification of this spell allows it to affect targets of his choosing.
Original Incantation: Hupakoson ten diatheken, akouson me, aionia basilisa, tou skotous kai tes chionos. / “Obey the contract, answer me, darkness, ice and snow, the queen of eternity.” Anthismena leuka rhoda, tou pag kipos atermonos en hupnoi. / “The coursing white rose of ice, the sleeping eternal garden.” Epigenetheto, taionion erebos, aionie krustalle. / “Come, everlasting darkness, the eternal glacier.” Meta tou psuchrou keraunou, sullamb ta apsukha upokheimena. / “Imprison these soulless puppets with frozen lightning.” Thaumaste galene, leuka rhoda anthismena aionion desmoterion. / “The enchanting tranquility, the eternal prison of white roses blooming in profusion.”
[H.04] Lightning Elemental High Ancient Spells
Dios Tukos [Διος Τυκος] / 雷の斧 (Ikazuchi No Fu)
Axe of Zeus, the Axe of Lightning. An offensive spell which destroys the target with an intense electric attack. While the attack has a limited area of effect, its short incantation makes it very effective at close to medium range.
Incantation: Kenotetos astrapsato de temeto. / “Come, lightning of the void, cut down.”
Khilipl Astrape [Κιλιπλ Αστραπη] / 千の雷 (Sen No Ikazuchi)
Thousand Thunderbolts. The most powerful spell in the lightning element. An extreme-range annihilation spell that strikes the target area with lightning. As its power output is over ten times beyond Jovis Tempestas Fulguriens, it accordingly requires an immense amount of energy.
Incantation: To sumbolaion diakoneto moi, basileu Ouranionion. Epigenetheto, aithalous keraune hos Titenas phetheirein. / “Obey the contract, obey me, king of the high palace. Come, blazing fulmination, destroyer of Titans.” Ekatontakis kai khilias astrapsato. / “Lightning surging together one hundred times and one thousand times, dash forth.”
Spirit Reinforcement Incantation: Jactum extendentes circuli exsistant. Captent objecta a primum ad decimum. Area constet. / “Remote support, expand ritual circle. One to ten, target acquisition. Range confirmed.” Intus se premant spiritus ad pressuram criticalem. / “Internal spirits, continue buildup until critical force.” Tribus… duobus… modo. Capturam disjungens omnes spiritus fulgurales fortissime emittam. / “3… 2… critical. All lightning spirits, full power release.”
Dios Logche ‘Titano-Ktonon’ [Διος Λογχη Τιτανο-Κτονον] / 雷神槍「巨神ころし」 (Raijinsou "kyojin koroshi")
Spear of the Lightning God, ‘Titan Slayer.’ An original spell created by the legendary "Thousand Master". By merging Khilipl Astrape into the spear form of Jaculatio Fulgoris, this spell concentrates the intense destructive power of Khilipl Astrape into a focused "spike".
Incantation: Duabus emissae, dextra stagnans ‘Khilipl Astrape,’ sinistra stagnans ‘Jaculatio Fulgoris”. / "Both hands release, right hand fixate ‘Thousand Thunderbolts,’ left hand fixate ‘Thrown Lightning’." Unisonent. / “Technique synthesis.”
The Khilipl Astrape High-Ancient spell contained within the spear can be unleashed as a point-blank attack with the following command: Command: Emittens Dios Logche, Khiliplen Astrapen producam. / “Release, Spear of the Lightning God, bring forth the Thousand Thunderbolts.”
A variant of the Khilipl Astrape release using “black lightning” has also been demonstrated: Incantation: Kokuryuu Raigou. / “The black dragon lightning comes.”
[H.05] Stone Elemental High Ancient Spells
Pnoe Petras [Πνοη Πετρας] / 石の息吹 (Ishi No Ibuki)
Breath of Stone. An attack spell which releases a cloud of poison gas, petrifying all living beings in contact with it.
Incantation: Basiliske, galeote meta kokto podon kai kakoin ommatoin. / “Little king, the eight-legged lizard, owner of the evil eyes.” Pnoen tou iou ton chronon parairousan. / “Breath out the time-stealing poison.”
The incantation refers to the Basilisk of Greek mythology.
Kakon Omma Petroseos [Κακον Ομμα Πετρωσεως] / 石化の邪眼 (Sekika No Jagan)
Evil Eye of Petrification. An attack spell which releases a beam of light from the fingers, petrifying all living and nonliving beings in contact with it. Due to the concentrated nature of the attack, it has a smaller effective range compared to Pnoe Petras, but it is capable of penetrating magic shields. The beam itself is also physically destructive, shown to be able to easily cut through wood.
Incantation: Basiliske, galeote meta kokto podon kai kakoin ommatoin. / "Little king, the eight-legged lizard, owner of the evil eyes.” To phos emei kheiri kathias toi kakoi dergmati toxeusato. / “Let that light reside in my hand, and shoot forth the ruinous gaze.”
Doru Petras [Δορυ Πετρας] / 石の槍 (Ishi No Yari)
Spear of Stone. An attack spell that launches a stone warhead at the target.
Modifier: To teichos dierxastho. / “Penetrate the barrier.”
The above is a special modifier for anti-barrier penetration which takes place surrounding this spell, essentially 'drilling' through protections and dissipating them by breaking the conduits holding them together apart.
Melan Kai Sphairikon Desmoterion [Μελαν Και Σφαιρικον Δεσμωτηριον] / 黒き牢球 (Kuroki Roukyuu)
Black Sphere Prison. A capture spell in which the target is first covered in asphalt to restrict movement, then sealed within a shrinking spherical bounded field. This spell is powerful enough to trap dragons and other massive, spiritually powerful beings. Without special means of sustaining life, the target will asphyxiate once the asphalt hardens.
Ho Monolithos Kion Tou Haidou [Ο Μονολιθος Κιων Του Αιδου] / 冥府の石柱 (Meifu No Sekichuu)
Pillar of the Underworld. An attack spell which summons massive stone pillars. A skilled practitioner can control these pillars through psychokinesis. While summoned by magic, the pillar itself cannot be defended against via anti-magic shields. However, the mass of the pillar means that it is almost impossible to deflect with anti-physical shields as well. Vincent Fiorelli demonstrated this spell against the Nethuamamagos' carrier and against several of their officials during the Taco War.
Incantation: O, Tartaros keimenon Basileion necron. Phainsastos hemin. / “Oh, the temple of the sleeping dead beneath the earth. Appear from below us.”
Aionion Petrosis [Αιωνιον Πετρωσις] / 永久石化 (Eikyuu Sekika)
Eternal Petrification. An attack spell which releases a beam of light from the fingers, petrifying all living and non-living beings in contact with it. While the petrification caused by Pnoe Petras and Kakon Omma Petroseos can be magically countered or canceled, this spell is comparatively even more dangerous, as its effect is semi-permanent. It would require calling on spirits on a divine level of power to undo this spell.
[H.06] Unaspected High Ancient Spells
Kratiste Aigis [Κρατιστη Αιγις] / 最強防護 (Saikyo Bougo)
Strongest Protection. An extremely powerful anti-physical and anti-magical, wide-area protection spell with multiple layers of bounded fields, wards and ritual circles. The spell works by overlapping the protections from each and every single field, ward, and circle, creating a complex network of barriers over a large region. Technically unaspected, the spell can be given an alignment toward any element in order to adjust the protective values.
Spelaion Mikron Baru Melan [Σπηλαιον Μικρον Βαρυ Μελαν] / 小さく重く黒い洞 (Chiisaku Omoku Kuroi Hokora)
Heavy Black Hole. An attack spell which can instantly obliterate matter by creating a sizable black hole through gravitational forces.
[E.01] Forbidd[E]n Magic
Magia Erebea / 闇の魔法 (Yami No Mahou)
Darkness cannot come from the light, but light can spring from the shadows. The dark is not the opposite of the light; the dark is an immense, all-encompassing power that devours even that which opposes it. This is the basis of Dark Magic. Named after Erebos, the primordial God of Darkness in Greek mythology, it is a forbidden technique developed by an entity known as the Dark Evangel, and fueled by negative emotions such as fear, malice, anger, and hatred.
Within the darkness, differences fade and everything is one and the same: obscure. In achieving Magia Erebea, the biggest threat is that even the caster himself can be swallowed by the Dark. "To find oneself beyond the shadows" - by confronting himself in a meeting with the anima, their internal darkness, the caster can step through into dark chaos, thus achieving Magia Erebea, the primordial encompassing power of the darkness.
Vincent Fiorelli's overuse of this forbidden spell resulted in the growth of his inner darkness to the point where his Dark side broke free from the control of his spirit. Light and Dark are currently separated, resulting in two Vincents roaming the Multiverse.
Actus Noctis Erebeæ / 闇き夜の型 (Kurakiyoru No Kata)
Form of the Dark Night. A training method for Magia Erebea in which the practitioner is covered by a sleek coat of darkness, which gives the user minor energy draining properties and a corrosive element to the touch.
Circuli Absorptionis / 敵弾吸収陣 (Tekidan Kyuushuujin)
Enemy Shot Absorption Ward. A magic ritual used to absorb energy. As the drawn circle is connected to the caster physically and spiritually, the absorbed supernatural energies can directly used for Magia Erebea, purified by the circle and absorbed by the caster.
Sinus Magnus / 太陰道 (Taiindou)
The great sheath. The vagina is the path by which life arisen in the womb is taken into the world. Thus, ancient tombs around the world, such as the Kikkoubaka of Japan or the Dolmen of Ireland, were designed to resemble the womb and birth canal of the female body. This stems from the belief that with death comes the return to the origin of life, ending one refrain and beginning the next. Taking in the phenomenon before your eyes like embracing death itself and being born anew - this procession of death and rebirth is the secret behind Magia Erebea.
The ultimate purpose of "dark magic" is not taking in Qi or Mana, or whatever supernatural energy is being fired at the caster, neither shots nor spells, but the enemy’s own "power", making it the caster's own.

[A.02] Western School Abilities
Evil Eye / 邪眼 (Jagan)
The catch-all term for magic that uses visual contact and the eyes themselves, and one of the base elements of the wicked arts and curse magic by projecting malevolent magic simply by focusing evil intent into a gaze. However, regardless of its uses, this type of "magic power through eye contact" is considered one of the foundations of magic as a craft.
As the name implies, evil eyes are generally associated with negative magic: petrification, charm, and various destructive powers. Thus, there are also many types of protection that ward against magic achieved via eye contact.
Demon Eye / 魔眼 (Magan)
Another type of evil eye. What is known about this ability is that it is capable of sharpening visual capabilities: being able to see spirits, track and shoot at multiple targets at once, and completely evade the ancient martial art of Iaiken.
Extrasensory Perception / 超感覚知覚 (Choukan Kakuchikaku)
Extrasensoria Perceptio. ESP. Basic cognitive magic to perceive the outside world. Comparatively mundane, but important as a foundation.
Some examples of ESP are: reading thoughts, detecting specific types of magic, seeing and predicting the future, recognizing intruders in a specific area, detecting outside surveillance, seeing through illusions, feeling and confirming the exact locations of others.
As the name implies, ESP is simply an extension on the normal senses of sight, smell, etc. which work by feeling changes through a medium. Mages communicate to each other through telepathy by changing the concept of ‘speaking’; rather than using air as a medium to carry sound, they directly "feel" and interpret each other’s intentions, giving words an unusual medium to travel through.
By combining Extrasensoria Perceptio with additional senses, the full potential of 'sixth' senses can be brought forth into full bloom.
[A.03] Eastern School Abilities
Shundoujutsu Quick move. Literally meaning "instant movement". By focusing the supernatural energies of the caster into the feet, a novice practitioner can cross a limited distance of 3 to 7 meters in a burst of extreme speed, which generally is high enough to appear almost instantaneous. However, unlike true teleportation, the movement itself can be intercepted and the exit point calculated. Additionally, once began, the technique cannot be stopped, and it must be performed on some sort of foothold or surface.
Note that Shundou is just a generic term for the many variations of similar techniques in many different martial art styles.
Kokuu Shundou Void instant movement. Instead of using a fixed surface, the practitioner simply uses "air" - space - itself as a foothold. As this can be performed in midair, movement in any direction is possible, eliminating the base weaknesses of Shundou. Not quite the equivalent of flight, but a suitable replacement should the need arise.
Shukuchihou
Suodi, ground contraction. In full, Shukuchimyaku / "Leyline contraction". "Even that at the end of a thousand lives exists before my eyes." The basis of Shundoujutsu. Not simply rapid movement, but the compression of leylines itself, and analogous to the Lorentz contraction in special relativity.
A method of transport used by the Immortals of Chinese mythology.
Shukuchimukyou
Suodiwujiang, unbound ground contraction. A long-distance form of Shukuchi, and presumably the ultimate technique regarding movement in Eastern schools of magic. The term "mukyou" - literally "without limits" - comes from the second hexagram of the I Ching, Kun (坤 kon). "Mare, become one with the land, and where you walk the earth, there shall be no borders."
Kankahou / 咸掛法 / 気と魔力の合一 (Ki To Maryoku No Gouitsu)
Xianguafa, the method of conjoining. Known in the west as Suntaxis Antikeimenoin [Συνταξις Αντικειμενοιν] / "The Union of the Opposing". It is the ultimate art in energy combination. By mixing the opposing forces of qi/chi/ki and mana - physical and spiritual energies -, the user gains incredible physical and spiritual power. Simply activating the skill enhances physical strength and agility, protection against physical and magical attacks, additional willpower, and a variety of other effects including resistance to heat, cold, and poisons.
Xian, the thirty-first hexagram of the I Ching, stands for the sympathetic union between the two opposing forces of Ying and Yang. It is also a good omen for marriage, symbolizing a fundamental "joining" of female (Ying) and male (Yang).
[A.04] Martial Art Styles
Chinese or Chinese-derived martial arts can be classed into one of two large categories or "families" - external, and internal.
External styles (外家 gaika) focus on training the body physically, equating it to power and strength, such as the Hakkyokuken and Shourinken. On the other hand, internal styles (内家 naika) focus on energy flow - qi - and circulation, methods of breathing, and other subtle elements, such as the Hakkeshou and the Keiiken.
Aikijuudou Specializes in techniques which neutralise the attacks of an opponent, and using the opponent’s power and momentum against him.
Aikitessenjutsu / Unifying Qi Iron Fan Technique
Technique consisting of wide fan-like motions in order to redirect an enemy's strikes. The style specializes in flowing arc strikes and parries.
Hakkeshou
Baguazhang. An internal style which specializes in free-flowing stances designed to maneuver around an opponent, and using full rotations of the body to deflect an opponent’s attack while using the same motion to increase the power of a counter-strike.
Soutoushou / Dual Striking Palms
A style which emphasizes strikes with both hands held open, dealing internal, explosive damage to the opponent by the sheer force of the impact.
Hakkyokuken
Bajiquan. An external style that emphasizes simple, direct, explosive strength at close range.
Hokuryuu Shourinken
Northern Shaolin. One of the most orthodox Northern Styles (arts originating from Northern China), and one of the most prominent external styles. Taking the exact opposite approach of Hakkyokuken, this style instead focuses on wide sweeping stances and keeping a distance from the opponent, allowing kicks and fast throwing techniques.
Iaiken
The style of an ancient martial artist going by the name of Takahata T. Takamichi, taught by Gateau Kagura Vandenberg. An empty-handed version of Iaidou – the sword art of fluidly drawing, attacking, then replacing the sword in the scabbard in a single motion – with the ‘sword in the scabbard’ replaced by ‘the fist in the pocket’. Reinforced by mana or the wielder's supernatural form of energy, the punches accelerate to the point of being invisible, which makes the technique nearly undetectable in execution. Due to this, it is also known as the Soundless Fist (無音拳 muonken).
The Iaiken does not strike the opponent with a physical blow or qi bullet, but simply with the shockwave of the attack. Generally, this is achieved by manipulating the force generated within the arm through the motion of punching at extremely high speeds, making it manifest outside of the limb executing the motion, and focusing it before launching it forth. The maximum range of the technique for novice practitioners is close to 10 metres. However, it cannot be used at extremely close range, as the attacks require a minimum of 1 to 2 metres to build up initial velocity.
When powered by Kankahou, the technique is referred to as Gousatsu (豪殺, "magnificient slaughter") Iaiken, with each shockwave containing enough force to completely break through magic shields and physical barriers. However, since these powerful attacks require a larger motion to trigger, the execution becomes easier to read and thus avoid.
Mahouken
The personal style of an ancient tribe of martial artists combining Western Magic and martial arts, firing spells off their fists in melee combat.
Byakuraishou / 白雷掌 (White Lightning Palm)
A direct blow which releases a searing lightning bolt on contact.
Gokuen Houzan Takutenshou / 獄炎崩山托天掌 (Hellfire Crushing Mountains, Heaven-Bearing Palm)
A downwards strike that produces the manifestation of a meteorite raining down from the heavens.
Houken / 崩拳 (Crushing Fist)
A straight empowered by wind currents, which are released on contact.
Fuukahouken / 風華崩拳 (Crushing Fist of Wind Majesty)
A more powerful version of the Houken. The fist is empowered by Sagitta Magica spells aligned to the wind element, and the arrows are promptly released on impact as additional concussive force.
Oukahouken / 桜華崩拳 (Crushing Fist of Cherry Blossom Majesty)
An unorthodox technique, it involves the execution of a wide-arc spin-kick whilst releasing the Flower spell of Veris Tempestas Florens at point-blank range.
Oukasoushou, Taikou Chougyosei / 桜華槍衝、太公釣魚勢 (Spear Thrust of Cherry Blossom Majesty, Grand Duke Fishing Stance)
A direct blow to the solar plexus further empowered by the conjuration of piercing stone enshrouded in Veris Tempestas Florens. Designed to pierce the opposition and leave them no room to recover as they're sent into a deep slumber.
Raikahouken / 雷華崩拳 (Crushing Fist of Lightning Majesty)
A more powerful version of the Houken and the Fuukahouken. The fist is empowered by Sagitta Magica spells aligned to the lightning element, and the arrows are promptly released on impact, bestowing electrifying power, additional concussive force, and searing heat.
[A.05] Shinmeiryuu
The blade of exorcism that defends the people and defeats evil.
The "most powerful combat organization", a martial school originally based in Kyoto and headed by its own founding family - the Aoyama. Shinmeiryuu swordsmen frequently served as guards to various associations and were renowned for their skill.
The core of the style revolves around the nodachi and the exorcising of great demons, a task which its wide sweeping techniques are best suited for, including even countermeasures for magical beasts not native to their area of residence. However, the school has expanded far beyond its original purpose, and also teaches other weapons and forms of fighting, such as qi training, unarmed combat, Onmyou, and various swordsmanship forms.
To give an idea of the speed at which Shinmeiryuu techniques are performed, it is noted that Shinmeiryuu is something against which projectiles, including bullets, are completely ineffective.
Sword Arts
Zanganken / 奥義、斬岩剣 (Ougi, Zanganken)
Esoterica, Rock-cleaving Sword. Exactly what it says on the tin.
Zanmaken / 奥義、斬魔剣 (Ougi, Zanmaken)
Secret blade: Esoterica, Demon-cleaving Sword. A sword attack capable of hitting spirits by attuning the soul of the wielder to the blade, channeling themselves through their sword.
Raimeiken 奥義、雷鳴剣 / (Ougi, Raimeiken) & 奥義、極大雷鳴剣 / (Ougi, Kyokudai Raimeiken)
Esoterica, Crying Thunder Sword. Slashing attack performed by charging the blade with magically enacted and controlled electrical currents. The more powerful version of this technique is the Kyokudai Raimeiken, the Greatest Crying Thunder Sword, which increases the strength of the electrical currents.
Raikouken / 決戦奥義、真・雷光剣 (Kessen Ougi, Shin Raikouken)
Decisive Esoterica, True Lightning Sword. Highly destructive and wide-range slashing attack which engulfs the target area in magically enacted and controlled lightning.
Hyakuretsu Oukazan / 奥義、百烈桜華斬 (Ougi, Hyakuretsu Oukazan)
Esoterica, Hundred Raging Cherry Blossoms Slash. A sweeping sword attack that slashes in every direction by using a countless number of blades crafted out of kinetic energy given a physical form in the material plane.
Zankuusen / 奥義、斬空閃 (Ougi, Zankuusen)
Esoterica, Air-cleaving Flash. A sweeping sword technique hitting the opponent with the shockwave of the attack, not dissimilar to Iaiken.
Ougi, Zantetsusen / 奥義、斬鉄閃 (Ougi, Zantetsusen) & 二刀連撃斬鉄閃 (Nittou Rengeki Zantetsusen)
Tempered blade: Esoterica, Steel-cleaving Flash. A sword attack capable of cleaving cleanly through any metallic matter. The variant of this technique is executed with two blades, the Nittou Rengeki Zantetsusen, or Dual Sword Successive Strike, Steel-cleaving Flash.
Hyakka Ryouran / 秘剣、百花繚乱 (Hiken, Hyakka Ryouran)
Secret Blade, Profusion of a Hundred Flowers. A destructive sword attack which releases qi in a straight line along the blade. If controlled, this technique can lengthen the reach of a sword through qi.
Martial Arts
"Shinmeiryuu does not choose its weapon."
Zankuushou, San / 奥義、斬空掌・散 (Ougi, Zankuushou, San)
Esoterica, Air-cleaving Palm, Scatter. A sweeping barrage of slicing qi fired forth from the hand.

Floating Cloud, Spiral Flash. A throwing technique which uses an opponent’s momentum to push them back and upwards into a spinning flip.
Sakura Sanka / 浮雲・桜散華 (Ukigumo, Sakura Sanka)
Floating Cloud, Descending Cherry Blossoms. A throwing technique which uses both legs to hold the opponent’s head, followed by a back flip driving the opponent into the ground.
Ourougekka / 桜楼月華
Moonlit Cherry Blossoms Tower. Qi is released from the hand to counter an opponent’s attack.
Resshuuzan / 烈蹴斬・弐の太刀 (Resshuuzan Ni no Tachi)

[A.06] Other Techniques
Rekkuushou / 裂空掌 A form of tooate (遠当て), the art of firing qi shots.
Rakansen / 羅漢銭
A type of Chinese hidden weapon, or anki (暗器). Simply put, this is the throwing of coins. A trained user can toss multiple coins at once. Infused with qi, the projectiles have bone-crushing force. Depending on the physical and spiritual strength of the practitioner, the coins can have varying destructive force.
Fusoujutsu / 布槍術
The art of using a length of cloth like a spear. Not meant purely for direct attacks, but to constrict and bind the opponent.
Koukikou / 硬気功
Reinforcing the outer body with qi for defense.

Supplemen[T]um & Armationem
Supplementum
Charge. The keyword to take in and spiritually fuse with a mage's energies made manifest in the material plane – in other words, the spell.
"Stagnet. Complexio. Supplementum Pro Armationem." Fixate. Seize. Mana Charge "Technique Armament."
The essential commands added at the end of another incantation which allow the caster to absorb the spell in order to augment themselves. A form of spell delay. However, taking the concept of spell delay one step further, the mage's soul, or spiritual existence, actually fuses with the spirit of the spell.
Stagnet: The released spell is concentrated into a sphere, which can be held or orbit the mage. Complexio: The mage uses one hand to "grasp" the sphere and absorb it.
Absorbing one’s own offensive magic and allowing its power to be channeled through the soul and body, the mage gains augmentations to their attributes or additional properties which heighten their power many times beyond normal. A failed fusion, however, will result in the spell's spirit rampaging through the caster physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Commands for the right arm and its loaded spell. Dextra Emittam / 右腕解放 – Right Arm Release
Dextra Emissa Stagnet / 右腕解放固定 – Right Arm Release and Fixate
Dextra Stagnans / 右腕固定 – Right Arm Fixate
Sinistra
Commands for the left arm and its loaded spell.
Sinistra Emittam / 左腕解放 – Left Arm Release
Sinistra Emissa Stagnet / 左腕解放固定 – Left Arm Release and Fixate
Sinistra Stagnans / 左腕固定 – Left Arm Fixate
Commands for both arms and loaded spells.
Duplex Complexio / 双腕掌握 – Both Hands Seize
Duabus Emissae / 双腕解放 – Both Hands Release
Armationem
Technique Armament. Supplement for armament. Consists of loading another spell as a "charge" to augment the power and options of the mage.
The basis of Armationem spells is allowing the caster to take on aspects of the absorbed spell – "round like the moon"; "hard like a rock"; "fast like the wind."
Supplement: Nivis Tempestas Obscurans
The caster takes in the spell of Nivis Tempestas Obscurans, gaining the capability to release cold waves with their every physical movement as well as drain the energy and corrode the physical body of the opposition via the union of ice and darkness.
Agilitas Fulminis / 疾風迅雷 (Shippuu Jinrai) Supplement: Jovis Tempestas Fulguriens
With Lightning Speed. By absorbing a wind and lightning spell, the mage gains extreme agility in exchange for lower defensive capabilities. The mage’s movements become electrified, allowing for stunning physical attacks. Projectile attacks can be deflected by an air current magic shield.
Sim Fabricatus Ab Incendio / 獄炎煉我 (Gokuen Renga) Supplement: Incendium Gehennae
Tempered by Hellfire. By absorbing a flame and darkness spell, the mage gains high endurance and heat resistance, as well as a spiritual ability to steal mana from other living beings. The mage’s movements can release black flames.
He Astrape Huper Ouranou Mega Dunamene [Η Αστραπη Υπερ Ουρανου Μεγα Δυναμενη] / 雷天大壮 (Raiten Taisou) Supplement: Khilipl Astrape
Great Vigour of the Thunderous Sky. By absorbing the most powerful spell in the lightning element, the caster physically transforms into sacred fire and lightning. That is, a charged particle mass, which grants an instantaneous speed of 150 kilometers per second, defined as Lightning Speed Instant Movement (雷速瞬動 Raisoku Shundou).
However, a major disadvantage exists in that being truly "lightning", a positive stream of electrons will always move before the caster, telegraphing the destination of every movement. Moreover, the speed boost is limited to the mage's physical actions. As such, if the caster's mind cannot keep up with the increase in raw velocity, then their every move will be erratic, rendering this particular enchantment worthless.
Da Zhuang (大壮 taisou) is title of the thirty-fourth hexagram in the I Ching, thus named because the hexagram composes of "Force" ("Heaven") and "Shake" ("Thunder"). The hexagram itself more or less means "strongly, intensely, lively", thus the Greek name: "lightning above the Heavens is extremely powerful."
Tastrapa Huper Ouranou Mega Dunamene [Ταστλαπα Υπερ Ουρανου Μεγα Δυναμενε] / 雷天双壮 (Raiten Sousou) Supplement: Khilipl Astrape x 2
Twin Vigour of the Thunderous Sky, Mega Dunamene. By absorbing the "Khilipl Astrape" twofold, the caster can maintain a constant speed of 150 kilometers per second, defined as Constant Lightning Form (常時雷化 jouji ikadzuchi-ka). At the same time, this form increases both physical mobility and mental processing speed, allowing the caster's mind to keep pace with a "lightning" body.
With the body turned into a particle mass, the caster can spread a swarm of positively charged particles - a group of his own positive particles - away from the main body, and is thus able to prepare an electric field. The caster can control the swarm, and thus the field itself, arbitrarily switching it from dunamis/potentia (potential energy) to energeia (actual energy) and vice versa. When the field is actualized, the caster’s negatively charged main body - particle mass - will be powerfully drawn towards the positively charged particle swarm, due to the electrical potential difference between them. Essentially, the caster uses an electrostatic discharge as a medium to achieve extremely high agility and speed.
150 kilometers per second is the average speed of a stepped leader during a lightning strike and the main 'branch' occurring within the opened circuit will be many times faster. Regardless, the exact speed of the discharges will always depend on local conditions, but it generally exceeds 2,260 kilometers per second.
During this, the caster’s main body - a high-speed negatively charged particle mass - collides with the molecules and atoms in the air. As the massive amount of kinetic energy becomes ionization energy and causes repeated impact ionization - an electron avalanche -, this releases a large amount of charged particles, resulting in a burst of electricity - hence "lightning".
The negatively charged particles that compose the caster’s main body will for the most part join with the positively charged particles newly generated within the circuit. As such, the caster cannot simply repeat the high-speed movement to another positive particle swarm. This magic is not as simple as "moving as fast as lightning", as it might appear.
Benjamin Franklin proved that lightning is electricity in 1752. However, before the modern era, lightning was assumed to be "the fire of the sky". For example, Aristotle believed that lightning was caused by the burning of ejected exhalations (De Anima) and Hesiod referred to Zeus’ thunderbolts as "sacred flame" (iere phloz [ιερη φλοξ]). In magical terms, 'to become a charged particle mass' is equivalent to 'becoming fire'.
To put it this way, you can say that 'Raiten Taisou' is a spell to change the caster’s body into fire, and mutating yourself into a djinn (for example, the Spirit of the Lamp in the story of Aladdin); djinn, beings made of fire, will never 'burn out', similar to how living beings can 'grow back' from injuries. As such, during impact ionization, even though the caster has lost his initial charged mass, he can absorb the charged particles within the circuit as replenishment, and maintain his body and life.
By unleashing the lightning within the caster - Khilipl Astrape - onto an actualized electric field, the caster can create a sudden, extreme electrical potential difference, resulting in a large electrical strike: Perfectus Plasmationis Per Emissionem, "Chihayaburu Ikazuchi".
"Chihayaburu" is ancient Japanese, meaning "mighty, great, vigourous power". "Chihayaburu" in this case is written as "breaking a thousand rocks" - 千磐破. Thus, "Thousand Rock Breaking Lightning".
In the case of 'Raiten Taisou', until the caster removes the positively charged particles from his main body elsewhere in his expanded electric field, he cannot use a circuit for high-speed movement. However, with 'Duplex Complexio' and a doubled 'Mega Dunamene' - resulting in Raiten Sousou -, the caster can change particle arrangement during movement, allowing him to create the next circuit while still in mid-movement. As the caster can create new circuits indefinitely, the caster can remain in a high-speed form infinitely – resulting in a Constant Lightning Form.
This is the theoretical and practical foundation behind Raiten Taisou and Raiten Sousou.
Krustalline Basileia [Κρυσταλλινη Βασιλεια] / 氷の女王 (Koori No Jouou) Supplement: Anthos Pagetou Khilion Eton
Queen of Ice. According to ancient texts, this creates an ice bounded circle that allows the caster to cast any ice-element magic below High-Ancient with no incantations or limitations.
[C.01] Combining Magic
The art of using two or more spells of the same or different elements. Similar to chaining magic, however, combining differs from chaining in the way that a new spell/s is/are born instead of stacked. The method of combining is similar as well; however, both spells have to be cast in unison.
Through this method, Nivis Tempestas Obscurans and Jovis Tempestas Fulguriens were created. The number of combined spells that await to be created is entirely dependent on the skill of the wielders of this magic school, on their inherent creativity, and on the compatibility of the spells fused together.
Vincent Fiorelli and Zericho Azerich have experimented on these precepts, with the former still refining and attempting to combine more and more spells through his research. The fruits of his labor, however, are known only to him for the time being, and not described within the parchment of this document yet.
